CLL #849 (feat. Kelli Williams) – 12/30/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –JBJ Tape (2008)
This is the only known copy of this show, Adam and Kelli have great chemistry and are fantastic on air together, Adam and Drew have a hilarious reenactment and Adam gives a heartfelt rant about child abuse, wonderful episode and the last live show of 1998, going out in style! This is Kelli’s only known appearance on CLL.
From Wiki: Kelli Renee Williams (born June 8, 1970) is an American actress. She is known for her roles as Lindsay Dole on the legal dramaThe Practice, psychologist and deception expert Dr. Gillian Foster on Lie to Me, and Jackie Clark on Army Wives.
CLL #848 (feat. Orgy) – 12/29/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –JBJ Tape (2008)
Another JBJ Tape that is the only source for an episode, just like the last one. Orgy are making their 1st of 2 appearances on CLL, two band members return in 2000. This episode has some gambling, some shutting off of Drew’s mic which fans on LoveLineTapes are split on, some hate it, some love it. You decide for yourself. This episode is roughly 98% complete, just missing a minute or so at the top of the show, another minute or less from the start of the 2nd hour (Tape Flip) and the closing break.
CLL #847 (feat. Natasha Gregson Wagner) – 12/28/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –JBJ Tape (2008)
This is a show we’ve had for about a decade, Natasha is making her only known appearance on CLL. The episode is 99% complete, only missing the break outro and intro for the 2nd hour (The Tape Flip.)
From Wiki: Natasha Gregson Wagner (born September 29, 1970) is an American actress. Wagner was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Richard Gregson, a film producer, and actress Natalie Wood.
CLL #846 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 12/27/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –JBJ Tape (2008) with Tobydog Tape (2007) patches
This is a brand new merging for this wonderful episode. Using the incorrectly dated JBJ tape for the base and the Toby tape to cover up some heavy static and a few missing holes. Adam and Drew are in rare form with “Cum Stones”, “Groom You For His Abuse Farm” and “They do have washing machines. They have women. They’re washing machines you can have sex with.” Plus Adam tells the story of defecating in a decorative popcorn tin. Episodes #844 and #845 are still lost to time, but we do know that Best Of was programmed for holidays, it was up to the affiliates to choose to play them or not, so this is definitely #846 and somewhere out there #844 and #845 are rotting in a dump/transmitting across the universe. We do not have to renumber 2635 shows, rejoice! 100% Complete Episode.
UnclePenny’s LoveLineTapes Notes: This is a bit of an odd show seeing how it was just 2 days after Christmas. It really is a great show though, definitely worth a listen. Drew brought some of those stupid Furby toys into the studio. He set them next the mic so people could hear them but Adam asks engineer Mike to shut the mic off. A couple minutes later he has to ask him again.
Drew just got back from a trip to Beaver Creek with his family. Adam explains why he doesn’t like skiing and skiers. Halfway into the first call Drew is forced to smother the furbies once again to stop making noise. A caller brings up Adam doing Dingle Boy. Sherry gets on the mic and explains that she would wear an engagement ring along with her wedding band but was too poor to afford both. She speaks a couple times in this show. Adam calls the two month’s salary tip for buying a ring recockulous. He compares it to the 3,000 mile oil changes that could be stretched out a couple more thousand.
Drew tells a girl that she is being groomed for an “abuse farm.” Engineer Mike says that Drew bought him a very nice pocket watch for Christmas. Meanwhile Adam got him a decorative popcorn tin. I believe this triggers the first popcorn tin reference. It sounds like the first one because Drew is shocked at him crapping in it.
A great South Park intro is played. Adam announces Producer Ann is on vacation. He got her some sea salts for Christmas.
Dr. Drew says he ran into Mrs. Fields at the airport, yes Mrs. Fields from the cookies they sell in vending machines. She has 10 kids and is actually pretty good looking. The next call is one of the most bizarre ones I’ve heard. A guy named Art is 75 years old! Possible the oldest caller ever.
In 1998 a caller named Eva was 73. Art says he smokes weed out of a pipe with a doctors prescription to stop leg pains. His wife died in 1996 and he’s now dating a 43 year old and she wants
him to get circumcised.
Adam mentions Christof, his German brother in-law. He complains how Stone Stanley gave him a $1000 Christmas bonus but KROQ did nothing and MTV gave him socks and didn’t invite them to the Christmas party. He talks about covering the OJ Simpson trial and not being reimbursed for an $18 parking fee. Adam tells a story about sneaking into the Weeze’s refrigerator and getting caught by the dad named Stan. Caller Kim’s boyfriend has a tattoo of a barcode. The artist said as long as the needle didn’t have dried blood on it then he would be safe. Adam asks a question about genocide which makes Drew dig out the dictionary and look up the definition.
An intro by the Nelson twins is played. Adam says they were nice guys but it was very uncomfortable when a clip of him bashing Gunner was played.
This was when one of the Morrell twins said she
was dating him. This show with the Morrell twins is now available. So I guess it turns out it was Engineer Mike and not Anderson that
played this trick on Adam. There’s a cool promo for Monday Night Football but then they guy says “Join me, Ted Stryker…” A caller says Adam was hitting on his cousin. They were actually good friends back in the day. There’s a funny drop of Victoria Jackson saying “there’s something wrong with his testicles?”
CLL #843 (feat. Best Of) – 12/22/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –TobyDog Tape (2008)
This is again the only source for this best of episode, featuring clips of Matt Stone and Trey Parker, Chris Kataan, Caroline Rhea and Sean Lennon, all shows from 1998 that have aired in the G.I.O. Feed. GLL episodes #844 and #845 are still missing, if they exist. Holiday Best Of was typically edited in batches of 5, it’s unclear if they aired best of on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas, many affiliates aired other content, often Christmas themed music/religious stuff. For the sake of the numbering of the show we cannot remove any dates from the possible episode list, at some point we will remove all best of episodes from the official Total Production Number of original episodes.
UnclePenny’s LoveLineTapes Notes: 0:00-45:50 – Matt Stone and Trey Parker (Aired 1998-07-27) 46:53: – 1:07:51 – Caroline Rhea (Aired 1998-09-14) 1:08:27–1:18:30 – Chris Kattan (Aired 1998-10-07) 1:18:55 –1:35:00 – Sean Lennon (Aired 1998-07-28)
– Same intro from Adam and Drew as the 1998-12-20 and 1998-12-21 Best of shows, just different guests/order of guests. I am going to say this aired on 1998-12-22. All shows are from 1998 and this aired after October 7th.
CLL #842 (feat. Best Of) – 12/21/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –TobyDog Tape (2008)
This is again the only source for this best of episode, featuring clips of Sean Lennon, Chris Kataan, Andy Dick and Everlast, all shows from 1998 that have aired in the G.I.O. Feed.
CLL #841 (feat. Best Of) – 12/20/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –TobyDog Tape (2008)
This is again the only source for this best of episode, featuring clips of Cypress Hill, Garey Busey, Everlast, Chris Kattan and Caroline Rhea. Once Again all shows from 1998 that have aired in the G.I.O. Feed.
UnclePenny’s LoveLineTape Notes: The first guest is Cypress Hill. Adam says B-Real is starting to look like an accountant. He announces he has become a conservative stoner.
Caller Tera corrects Adam when he calls her Tara.
A guy named Scott says they do a sick show. Drew asks gets a bit confused by his comment. Here’s how it sounded:
Scott: I also want to say to Dr. Drew and Adam, you guys do a sick show.
Adam: Thanks…
Drew: Is that a good thing?
Adam: That’s good.
The next guest is Gary Busey. When they go into the segment, Drew is talking on the phone in the other room.
A 16 year old guy has a job working at a lamp store. Adam says he wouldn’t know how to react if someone told him they work at a lamp store.
The next guest is Everlast. This segment doesn’t seem familiar so it may not be in the 37 minute long version.
Adam does his Tim (Teeem) the Russian Rapper impersonation. Adam says it was funny when they went to the beach because Nate was really skinny and Tim weighed about 250 pounds. On the way to the beach, they’d listen to rap music in Adam’s truck and he’d rap along. Adam does the two rhymes Tim would often do and Everlast says he may sample him on his next record.
Chris Kattan is the next guest.
Adam says they were recently in Syracuse, NY. They were speaking at Syracuse University and Drew accidently offended allot of the students after the first question. Adam says the rest of the thing was just him picking up the pieces.
A girl says she’s seen Chris’s movie in the theatre 4 times.
Adam and Drew are going to be traveling soon. Adam suggests they don’t talk while on the road. Drew brings up how he never shuts up when they’re on a plane and Adam says he’ll make an exception on the no talking rule for plane rides.
The Goo Goo Dolls are the next guest. Adam asks Drew if he should be touching the monitor screen because it’s going to have to last Westwood None for a long time.
The first caller says Drew is cute but Adam is a pimp. A Goo Goo Dolls song is played.
The last guest is Caroline Rhea. She says whenever she goes to speak at colleges all the posters say her show is free. Adam says they were DeKalb……… and a girl stood up and asked a question in an interesting way.
A caller says he has a way for Adam to finally get the video “Spank Me, F Me.” The video apparently stars Kayla Cleavage and Minka.
CLL #840 (feat. George Lowe as ‘Space Ghost’) – 12/17/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –JBJ Tape (2008) with Unknown Tape Patches
This is George’s 2nd known episode, both in character and both times joining the show remotely from a different coast, coast to coast indeed! George only breaks character once and it’s because of Adam delivering a hilarious one liner, great episode. This is a new merging of the JBJ Tape and an Unknown recording, restoring over 10 minutes of lost content, the show starts in progress.
From Wiki: George Edward Lowe (born November 10, 1958)[1][2][3] is an American voice actor and comedian. He is perhaps best known for his role as the voice of Space Ghost on the Cartoon Network/Adult Swim/GameTap animated series Space Ghost Coast to Coast; he also played the part for its spin-off Cartoon Planet.[4] He continued to voice Space Ghost in several cameos in other programs for several years, even following the conclusion of the series. He has also made recurring voice appearances on Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Robot Chicken.
Space Ghost
Lowe did occasional voice-over work for TBS throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, as well as occasional voice-overs for Cartoon Network in the mid 1990s. Lowe’s career as a voice actor officially began in 1994 with the premiere of Space Ghost Coast to Coast, in which he starred as the lead role of Space Ghost. Space Ghost Coast to Coast finished a ten-year run of new episodes on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim in 2004, and was revived on Gametap for 2 seasons during 2006–2008 for an additional 16 episodes.
This is a new Lost Tape and Kevin Tape merged with the older TobyDog Tape to complete the recording, Adam goes off on Barney’s Of New York and John tells the gang about his parents. They also receive a possibly bogus call from a guy describing his “Hammer” technique. Solid Episode and John’s only appearance, he only once appeared on air with Adam again on the KLSX ACS on November 13th 2007.
From Wiki: John Joseph Fugelsang (born September 3, 1969) is an American actor, television personality and comedian.
CLL #838 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 12/15/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with Tobydog Tape (2008) Patches
This is a new Kevin Tape. Adam predates ‘The Friend Zone’ with FriendVille, Drew says the night before he almost stopped caring about the show because they were so out of it.
UnclePenny’s LoveLineTapes Notes: Drew says the night before he almost stopped caring about the show because they were so out of it.
Adam and Drew were listening to the show where Adam lit his farts and mention they will put it on one of the best of shows coming up over the holiday break. Adam threatens to smack Drew in the back of the head for eating a throat lozenge.
Engineer Mike says Drew was spilling coffee all over the place from laughing so hard during the lit farts show and had to leave the room.
Caller Ann is an incredibly dumb caller. She is in
college and messing around with her boss. Here are a couple of the things they ask her.
Drew: Is he a student there?
Ann: Yeah, I’m a student.
Adam: Are your mom and dad still together?
Ann: Yeah
Adam: Do you like him?
Ann: Who?
Adam: WHO?
Ann: My boss?
Caller Angela is a stripper. She cannot understand why guys like going to strip clubs so Adam has to explain it to her.
Caller Mike is suspected of using a false name. He is asked to spell Michael and he screws it up/messes with them because he’s so high. When Adam asks what his question is he says he forgot.
A guy calls in who is an air traffic controller. Adam goes to use the reverb button but then finds out there is another button that makes it sounds like he’s on a phone.
Adam says his sister is coming back from Germany. She just bought a house and is going to have Adam start working on it.
A stripper calls in to yell at Adam and Drew for calling strippers abused. Adam has Drew’s mic shut off so he can talk to her alone. He tells Drew to go do something while he’s talking to her. It turns out the caller dated a 19 year old when she was 15 and the guy drowned.
Adam takes another stab at engineer Mike’s army cot apartment. Later he talks about being on the show Two guys, a girl and a pizza place.
At the end of the show Adam punches up
everyone on hold and tells them they can’t talk because the show’s over and hangs up on them.
At the very end they mention their episodes of Space Ghost will be aired soon.
CLL #837 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 12/14/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog Tape (2008) Patches
This is a new Kevin Tape Upgrade
UnclePenny’s LoveLineTapes Notes: This is a great no guest show. It is actually a more complete version of the show labeled 11/xx/1998 with 73 year old caller Eva. There are also allot of callers who are dumber than usual.
The guest for this show is the “love that the hosts find between the two of them.”
Apparently a dentist called earlier who offered to bleach Adam’s teeth for free over the holiday break. Before Adam can start ranting about dentists and the garbage men that come to his house, Drew takes a call. It sounds like the caller is playing the wooden block game Jenga. She won’t fess up to there being a ton of noise in the background. She is nothing but trouble for the rest of the call and ends up getting put on hold.
The next couple callers are just complainers about how the show is handled.
The next caller is a gay German/Irish chef and sounds like he’s going to come through and get the show back on track but he drops the F bomb twice in about 30 seconds and is put on hold as well. What’s odd about this guy is that he has the male equivalent of the little girl voice that is heard so much. He has some really bizarre stories to tell about his past.
Adam says something about the band Goldfinger and Drew says “no way!” like he’s really interested in the band.
Adam makes fun of engineer Mike’s army cot in his apartment. This causes him to play the “and that’s funny why???” drop.
This show has the return of 73 year old caller Eva. She talks about her 6 week honeymoon and using a series of graduated glass cylinders. She also reveals she’s been married 4 times. Adam offers to set her up with engineer Mike.
Adam compares doing comedy for Drew is like doing comedy for a raccoon.
Adam talks about kids having braces and how kids with headgear got made fun of. During the next break Drew tells Adam he used to wear a hear set when he was 9 years old.
When he talks about wearing it to school Adam makes fun of his albino hemophiliac school.
A caller by the name of Stacy drops another F bomb and the whole word gets through. A drop is played where Adam once said the F word on the air and it got bleeped out. A recording of this show doesn’t seem to exist though. The girl’s 23 year old boyfriend has been working at McDonalds for a year and hasn’t gotten a promotion. Adam then goes off on how much he resented his former boss Ken when he was working at McDonalds.
CLL #836 (feat. Mark McGrath) – 12/13/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –Tobydog Tape (2008)
This is the TobyDog Tape, the only source on earth. Director McG is in studio but off mic for the entire show. Mark is a great guest as per usual. “She may not be bicurious, she may be biserious.” – Dr. Drew. The episode is as close to 100% complete as possible, just missing 5-10sec from the tape flip.
From Wiki: Mark Sayers McGrath (born March 15, 1968) is an American singer of the rock band Sugar Ray. McGrath is also known for his work as a co-host of Extra, and he was the host of Don’t Forget the Lyrics! in 2010. McGrath hosted the second season of the TV show Killer Karaoke, taking the place of Jackass star Steve-O.
CLL #835 (feat. KoЯn) – 12/10/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Tobydog Tape (2008) – The Only Known Source
This is the existing Tobydog Tape I transferred about a decade ago, it is 90% complete just missing under 10 minutes from the opening and a few seconds from the start of the 2nd hour, the tape flip. Drew is sick and burnt out, Adam is trying to carry the show, Korn episodes are always weird episodes.
CLL #834 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 12/09/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog Tape (2008) Patches
This is a new Kevin Tape merged with the older TobyDog Tape, Adam tells the Earthquake/Face Herpes Story and the Terry Mosier Street Fight Story
UnclePenny’s LoveLineTapes Notes: The night Adam’s ep of Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza place aired, Adam finds it shocking that nobody at westwood 1,2,none saw the episode, Produ”C”er Ann chimes and says she even skipped 90210 in order to watch it and she thought he was great.
Adam explains why he didn’t want a tape of the episode, he wanted a recording with the commercials and the network promos, he thinks that adds the surreal element to it on later viewings.
A caller brings up Dr. Judy a former radio “Doctor” and Drew lets out a knowing “eewwwoooohhhhhh” noise.
Adam tells the 1994 earthquake/face herpes story to Drew, this may be the very first telling because Drew reacts to it and shoots holes in Adam’s theory of breathing in ancient dust that caused his face herpes.
Adam also tells the full “Terry Mosier Street Fight” story in detail, Adam tells it in full detail with both the make out party and truck sale/fat mexican moving in, Adam refers to this story as the “Kung Fu Theater” story and reveals that it was broken up by the police.
Adam and Drew compare there sweating frequency, Adam gets pissed cause Drew never sweat and makes a hilarious comment about Drew sunning himself on a rock to get warm like a lizard.
Adam discusses running into Salma Hayek at the MTV awards and how she approached him and couldn’t stop talking about how her boyfriend is in love with Adam, Adam then comments that they can surely get her on the show now but Ann chimes in and say maybe the boyfriend, Adam “…My first question would be, can I smell your penis”.
CLL #833 (feat. Ryan Reynolds and Traylor Howard) – 12/08/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –Lost Tape (2017) with Kevin Tape (2016) and TobyDog Tape Patches
This is a new Lost Tape restoring the lost 24 minutes of show content, the episode is now complete and sounds insanely great. Ryan is making his 1st of 2 appearances on CLL, he returns in 2002. This is the show I tried to get to the Deadpool producers, as LoveLine was originally featured in several drafts of the screenplay for the film, too late I guess. Dingo Boy is discussed.
From Wiki: Two Guys and a Girl (originally titled Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place) is an American sitcom created by Kenny Schwartz and Danny Jacobson. It was originally broadcast on ABC from March 10, 1998, to May 16, 2001. Eighty-one episodes were aired over four seasons.
The series stars Ryan Reynolds, Traylor Howard and Richard Ruccolo as the title characters. The second season saw the arrival of two additional recurring characters, Johnny Donnelly (Nathan Fillion) and Ashley Walker (Suzanne Cryer). In 2000, ABC bounced the sitcom from midweek to Friday night, leading to a steep drop in ratings. After the show moved back to Wednesday for a two-week trial in an unsuccessful attempt to regain ratings, it was cancelled in May 2001. The series finale was titled “The Internet Show”, an episode in which fans of the show voted on the outcome online.
Unclepenny’s LoveLineTape Notes: This show starts right before the first commercial break so its missing around 20 minutes.
A caller mentions “dingo boy” a bit Adam did for a syndicated radio service prior to his involvement with Loveline, even Dr.Drew has never heard of it, after persistence from Drew, Traylor and Ryan Adam finally gives a detailed explanation of Dingo Boy and sings the Ding Boy theme song which is hilarious.
Trya Banks crush on Dr. Drew is brought up and Adam goes off on Radio personalities and the reason they are in radio and not on television.
Ryan and Traylor are great guests, a great call from a young man who tried to kill himself with a electrical cord after his last call into Loveline.
Adam pitches his Idea of female genitalia bikini bottoms that would have antatomy charts on them similar to the T-shirts with pictures of all the organs.
Dr. Drew drops an F bomb its hard to tell cause Mike drops out a lot of the audio as opposed to one of his or Anderson’s typical quick surgical style edits he must have been caught off guard.
Adam talks about his power going out, Ryan discusses how he watched all 90 minutes of the last episode of NYPD blue with Jimmy Smitts and his power went out right before he died.
Ian “..oh am I on the radio?” Adam “..no I’m in the next room you jackass”.
Caller Ian had a “romantic” dream about his friends sister, this inspires Adam to go off on how when he has a sex dream about a woman it somehow makes him believe that he is that much closer to getting her in real life.
Adam is guesting in the upcoming episode of Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place and it is discusses throughout the show.
Adam and Drew discuss doing the lost and final episode of “Fired Up” a sitcom co starring Leah Remini and how they never saw the episode and it never aired on television(I think it may have run years later in syndication).
Ryan mentions he did an episode of the John Laraquette show that never made it to air but he got a VHS copy of it and was able to see it.
Adam mentions that Lynette had got a copy of the episode about a week ago but he is waiting until it airs to watch it, Adam and Drew both admit they dont own one copy of Loveline the TV show or Loveline the radio show.
Adam and Ryan do dueling Steve Irwin impressions, Its so funny.
This is a new Lost Tape for a show I first recovered almost a decade ago, we now have the best possible audio. Terry and Adam have great chemistry and Terry even says she would go out with Adam, awesome episode! Now 100% Complete with all missing content restored, the Tobydog Tape was missing somewhere between 25-47 minutes of show content, so this is a huge recovery for a single episode.
From Wiki: Theresa Lee “Terry” Farrell (born November 19, 1963) is an American actress and fashion model. She is best known for her role as Jadzia Dax in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and later in the comedy series Becker as Regina Kostas.
This is a new Lost Tape replacing a static heavy JBJ Tape, huge audio upgrade with the best possible quality ever, other than getting in a time machine and joining them in studio. The Guests are fairly quiet, promoting the show ‘The Nanny’ on CBS. This is Nicholle’s only appearance on CLL, Andrew returns for CLL #1281 with Beth Broderick promoting ‘Psycho Beach Party’ and that is his final visit to the show. Solid Episode, Drew has his own “Batting Cage” moment and while the guests seem fairly intimidated by the subject matter they still contribute. 100% Complete.
From Wiki: The Nanny is an American television sitcom which originally aired on CBS from 1993 to 1999, starring Fran Drescher as Fran Fine, a Jewish fashion queen from Flushing, New York who becomes the nanny of three children from the New York/British high society.
The show was created and produced by Drescher and her husband Peter Marc Jacobson, taking much of its inspiration from Drescher’s personal life growing up in Queens, involving names and characteristics based on her relatives and friends. The show earned a Rose d’Or[2] and one Emmy Award, out of a total of twelve nominations,[3] and Drescher was twice nominated for a Golden Globe and an Emmy. The sitcom has also spawned several foreign adaptations, loosely inspired by the original scripts.

CLL #826 (feat. Chris Owens) – 11/29/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –Lost Tape (2017)
This is the infamous “Batting Cage” episode, there is great controversy about the perceived clairvoyance on LoveLineTapes. Part of me wishes I never uncovered the full show because of it, Great Episode and the only appearance made by Chris Owens on CLL. Adam shares the story of “That Chick from Wild Orchid” (Fergie) hitting on him at a party. CLL #825 aired on Thanksgiving and was a Best Of episode, either a mix or a full show repeat. It’s unclear if we have a copy or not.

This is a new Lost Tape for a show I first recovered back in 2008, Wes is a fairly reserved guest making his first appearance on the show, he returns again in August of 1999 for his final known appearance on CLL during the Adam Carolla era.
From Wiki: Wesley Louden “Wes” Borland (born February 7, 1975) is an American rock musician and artist. He is best known as the current guitarist and backing vocalist of the nu metal band Limp Bizkit and as the lead vocalist of the industrial rock band Black Light Burns.

Borland left Limp Bizkit in 2001 and started many side projects such as Eat the Day and The Damning Well. After rejoining Limp Bizkit in 2004, Borland founded Black Light Burns, with whom he has released three studio albums and a covers album. Limp Bizkit went on hiatus following the release of their album The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) (2005). Source –Kevin Tape (2016) merged with a Lost Tape (2009) and an Engineer Mike CD (2009)
This is a new Kevin Tape merged with previously acquired Lost Tape from the local KROQ affiliate, I also placed the CD recording of her live performance back into the recording, This is Jewel’s 1st of 2 known appearances, she comes back in 2003. Jewel performs ‘Fat Boy’ live in studio, it’ll probably make you cry if you’re a good person. Jewel is an amazing guest, she mediates the boys disagreement and hostility and they take a call involving pepper spray shenanigans. The show is missing 10-30 seconds of the closing break/goodbye segment and missing 5-30 seconds in two spots, before and after the 2nd hour Satellite affiliate break. 99% complete with 44 of the missing 45 minutes restored, finally!
CLL #819 (feat. Vanilla Ice) – 11/18/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) With TobyDog Tape (2008) Patches
This is a newly discovered Kevin Tape with some Tobydog Patches from a tape I first transferred and rescued from time almost a decade ago, Adam and Drew are in NYC and fresh from taping Conan earlier in the evening, Ice joins them from 1-3am and stays the entire show. Ice proves to be a decent guest, it’s too bad he never got another shot at guesting in the regular studio and time-slot. 100% Complete.
From Wiki: Robert Matthew Van Winkle (born October 31, 1967), known professionally as Vanilla Ice, is an American rapper, actor, and television host. Born in South Dallas, and raised in Texas and South Florida, Ice released his debut album, Hooked, in 1989 on Ichiban Records, before signing a contract with SBK Records, a record label of the EMI Group which released a reformatted version of the album under the title To the Extreme. Ice’s 1990 single “Ice Ice Baby” was the first hip hop single to top the Billboardcharts.
Although he was successful, Ice later regretted his business arrangements with SBK, which had paid him to adopt a more commercial appearance to appeal to a mass audience and published fabricated biographical information without his knowledge. After surviving a suicide attempt, Ice was inspired to change his musical style and lifestyle. While his later, less mainstream albums failed to chart or receive much radio airplay, Ice has had a loyal underground following. In 2009, Ice began hosting The Vanilla Ice Project on DIY Network. His latest album WTF – Wisdom, Tenacity & Focus was released in August 2011. Ice is currently signed to Psychopathic Records.

CLL #817 (feat. Lola Glaudini) – 11/16/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016)
This is a new Lost Tape for a show previously forgotten to time, nobody even knew we were looking for this one. Who knows what happens, lets all listen and enjoy it! This episode is missing 10-30 seconds at two different spots, it jumps ahead like almost all Kevin Tapes. The final break is also missing, it cuts off just before they go to break mid sentence. 99% complete episode with only a single recording, pretty solid.
CLL #815 (feat. John Henton) – 11/12/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016)
This is a new Lost Tape for a show previously forgotten to time, nobody even knew we were looking for this one. Who knows what happens, lets all listen and enjoy it! 99% Complete
Henton is an avid Cleveland Browns fan, as noted on the television series, Living Single. Henton never entertained the thought of a career in comedy. In 1982, while working during the day and studying computer science at night, Henton was urged by a co-worker to try his jokes at a local comedy club’s amateur night. By his second night, Henton won the amateur night contest and began stand-up part-time. Henton made the move to Los Angeles in 1985 and by 1988, started his stand-up career full-time.
After taking his comedy on the road for a year and winning the 1991 Johnny Walker National Comedy Search, Henton was spotted by The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson comedy executive Jim McCawley, who booked him for a performance on the show. As he finished his set, Henton looked to Carson for his approval and received much more. Henton was called over to take a seat on the coveted couch where Carson asked him if he had an agent. To Henton’s reply of “no”, Carson mugged, “Well you will after tonight.” It was a performance which Henton says gave his career a “serious jump-start.”
In September 2000 Henton was involved in a serious car accident that “destroyed his left eye socket, shattered both of his legs, broke nine teeth and ripped up his stomach.” The actor’s face was badly deformed by the incident, though extensive plastic surgery restored most of his facial structure.[1]
Henton currently resides in Los Angeles. He spends his free time with his young daughter Nicole Simone Henton.
CLL #814 (feat. Jerry Springer and Wendy Raquel Robinson) – 11/11/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with Tobydog Tape (2012) Patches
This is a new Lost Tape for a previously incomplete show, now almost complete with the missing 17 minutes restored to the running time, the show starts in progess with about 60sec of missing content. Jerry Springer and Wendy Raquel Robinson are both making their only known appearances during the Adam Carolla era.
From Wiki: Ringmaster There are three ongoing plots in the film. The primary one surrounds a white trash, trailer park family in which the daughter is sleeping with her mother’s husband, prompting the mother to constantly try to outdo her promiscuous daughter’s behavior out of spite, including sleeping with her daughter’s boyfriend. The secondary plot revolves around an urbanblack woman whose boyfriend is sleeping with her two best friends, but the three are united against the boyfriend when he begins sleeping with the daughter of the above-mentioned family. The third plot revolves around Jerry and the show itself, detailing the difficulty Jerry faces in trying to come to terms with his rather dubious claim to fame, and the staff’s utter amazement at the bizarre stories they must deal with.
A minor sub-plot involves a producer on the show who mistakenly picks up one of the guests, a self-proclaimed “man-by-day-woman-by-night.”
From Wiki: Wendy Raquel Robinson (born July 25, 1967) is an American actress. Robinson is best known for her roles as high school principal Regina “Piggy” Grier on The WB comedy sitcom The Steve Harvey Show (1996–2002), and as sports agent Tasha Mack on The CW/BET sitcom The Game (2006–15).
UnclePenny’s LoveLineTapes Notes from 2012:
– Wendy Raquel Robinson is also in the studio
– Adam wants Jerry to implant Norplant to every guest on his show, even males.
– Drew talks about taking his kids to the Rugrats movie sneak preview
– Conan won’t fly Adam and Drew out to NY even though they want them on the show next week
– Caller Max says “Screw you Drew,” not the drop though
– Adam yells at Drew for his squeaky chair
– Drew tries to make a movie or TV reference and completely butchers it.
– The chairs on-set of the Jerry Springer show should probably be bolted down…
– Last night all the breaks were taken exactly on the second they’re supposed to be done (Adam was out)
– Jerry says the chairs are safe because there are cops on-set.
– Caller has been listening since the Poorman-era and says Adam is way better in her opinion
– Adam’s bizarre dream last night, driving home from the “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place,” taping at 2am and passed by several Psycho billboards. She dreamt Anne Heche trying to stab him several times even though he got to have sex with her. Jerry wants to get Adam and Ann on his show ASAP.
– Jerry and Wendy leave after the first hour and will tape the MTV Loveline show on Friday
– Some “Blur” bashing, says the name was based on how easy it is to say after waking up from a drunken stupor
– Drew says that the most popular program in prisons is COPS.
– Tap water PSA clip (Adam PSA rant ensues)
– Talk about Adam’s “Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place” Adam comes up with a great line, way better than the written line, ties into what they’re trying to get across, but they can’t do it because it used the word “Jesus.” Adam goes off on them referencing the scientology letter incident from 1997. This rant is a good 7+ minutes long, gold.
CLL #812 (feat. Richard Branson) – 11/09/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –Lost Tape (2017) with Kevin Tape (2016) Patches
This is a new Lost Tape for a show previously forgotten to time, nobody even knew we were looking for this one. Who knows what happens, lets all listen and enjoy it! Richard is making his only known appearance on LoveLine. 100% Complete.
From Wiki: Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson (born 18 July 1950) is an English business magnate, investor and philanthropist.[4] He founded the Virgin Group, which controls more than 400 companies.[5]
Branson expressed his desire to become an entrepreneur at a young age. At the age of sixteen his first business venture was a magazine called Student.[6] In 1970, he set up a mail-order record business. In 1972, he opened a chain of record stores, Virgin Records, later known as Virgin Megastores. Branson’s Virgin brand grew rapidly during the 1980s, as he set up Virgin Atlantic airline and expanded the Virgin Records music label.
In March 2000, Branson was knighted at Buckingham Palace for “services to entrepreneurship”.[7] For his work in retail, music and transport (with interests in land, air, sea and space travel), his taste for adventure, and for his humanitarian work, he became one of the most prominent figures in British culture.[8][9] In 2002 he was named in the BBC’s poll of the 100 Greatest Britons.[10] In January 2016, Forbes listed Branson’s estimated net worth at $5.2 billion.[3]
CLL #811 (feat. Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Stein) – 11/08/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –Lost Tape (2017) with TobyDog Tape (2008) Patches
This is a newly discovered recording of a show I first transferred in 2008, we previously had a solid Tobydog Tape but this sounds way better, The show is 100% complete and this is Jimmy’s 1st of 8 known appearances during the Adam Carolla era of the show, Adam’s buddy “Jim/Jimmy” is finally on air with the Aceman, Jimmy kills it even though he’s fairly quiet and reserved, but his few contributions are hilarious. Ben is making his 1st of 6 total appearances on the show during the Adam era. Some users of LoveLineTapes find some of Ben’s comments to be controversial, once again decide for yourself.
From Wiki: Win Ben Stein’s Money was an American television game show created by Al Burton and Donnie Brainard that aired first-run episodes from July 28, 1997 to January 31, 2003 on the Comedy Central cable network, with repeat episodes airing until May 8, 2003. The show featured three contestants who competed to answer general knowledge questions in order to win the grand prize of $5,000 from the show’s host, Ben Stein. In the second half of each episode, Stein participated as a “common” contestant in order to defend his money from being taken by his competitors. The show won six Daytime Emmy awards,[1] with Stein and Jimmy Kimmel, the show’s original co-host, sharing the Outstanding Game Show Host award in 1999.
As noted in a disclaimer during the closing credits, prize money won by contestants was paid from a prize budget furnished by the producers of the show. Any money left over in that budget at the end of a season was given to Stein. If the total amount paid out during a season exceeded that budget, the production company paid the excess. In this way, Stein was never in any danger of losing money from his own pocket.
Stein’s co-host was Jimmy Kimmel for the first three years. Kimmel left in 2000 and was replaced by Nancy Pimental, who co-hosted the program through 2001. Kimmel’s cousin, Sal Iacono, who took over the role in 2002, was the show’s last co-host. Although Kimmel left the program in 2000, he occasionally made guest appearances afterward, and hosted College Week episodes in 2001.

Soon after, the band lost mainstream recognition but gained an underground cult following. As of 2006, the band is no longer signed to a major record label, and has since been independent. After many line-up changes throughout the years, front man Aaron Barrett remains the only founding member in the band.

Source –Lost Tape (2017) With a JBJ Tape(2008) and Kevin Tape (2016) Patches
This is a new Lost Tape, replacing the previously acquired JBJ Tape from 2008. The show is now complete in full. Fans on LovelineTapes are mixed at best when it comes to the guest, some even floating a “quoting South Park” theory for determining if someone is a bad guest. I Love the band on the show, despite how off the rails the show gets, it’s an important episode. This is the only appearance for the band, ever.
From Wiki: Zebrahead is an American rock band from Orange County, California, United States. Formed in 1996, the band has released twelve studio albums to date.

Source –Kevin Tape (2016)
This is a new Kevin Tape for this long lost show, previously missing for over 18 Years. This is the only known appearance for Fatboy Slim.
From Wiki: Norman Quentin Cook[1] (born Quentin Leo Cook on 31 July 1963), [2][3] also known by his stage name Fatboy Slim, is an English DJ, musician and record producer/mixer.[4]
As a solo electronic act, he has won ten MTV Video Music Awards and two Brit Awards. His records as Fatboy Slim also helped to popularise the big beat genre, which achieved mainstream popularity in the 1990s.
Cook first rose to fame in the 1980s as the bassist of the indie rock band The Housemartins who scored a UK number-one single with their a cappella cover of Isley-Jasper-Isley‘s “Caravan of Love“. After the band split, Cook formed Beats International whose début album spawned their signature hit, “Dub Be Good to Me” which was another UK number-one as well as going on to become the seventh best-selling single of 1990 in the UK. Cook then went on to join numerous other acts including Freak Power, Pizzaman and The Mighty Dub Katz to moderate success.
This is a new Lost Tape paired with the Kevin Tape for a 100% complete recording of a show that’s been missing for over 18 years, we’re on a roll! Cracker are making their 2nd of two known appearances during the Adam era, they were previously on CLL #130 from March of 1996.

CLL #797 (feat. Everlast) – 10/19/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –Lost Tape (2017) with Kevin Tape (2016) patches
This is a a new Lost Tape, best audio possible. We previously only had small clips of this show from some December 1998 Best Of Recordings but now have the full show, two sources in fact! Everlast shares the sound of his metal heart valve and debuts his new style of music. Classic Episode missing for over 18 years. Let’s all listen together and enjoy, who knows nor remembers what happens, I heard this one live and can only recall the heart valve discussion.
This is the brand new Lost Tape, once again the best audio quality possible and it’s not up for debate. This is the 3rd known appearance by the Goo’s during the Adam Carolla era, they have one more visit in 2000. This is the episode where Adam drops a Bruce Jenner observation/bomb a full 17 years before the rest of the world was made aware, once again proving Adam’s prescience. Classic Episode, do not miss it!
In October 2012, “Iris” was ranked #1 on Billboard’s “Top 100 Pop Songs 1992–2012” chart, which also featured Goo Goo Dolls hits “Slide“, ranking at #9, and “Name” at #24. Their biggest hit, “Iris”, from the City of Angels soundtrack (and later Dizzy Up the Girl), spent nearly 12 straight months on the Billboard charts and held the number one position on the Hot 100 Airplay chart for 18 weeks. The first single from their 2010 album, Something for the Rest of Us, “Home”, extended the band’s record to 14 top ten hits at the hot AC radio format (more than any other artist in the history of that format).[7] The band’s tenth album, Magnetic, was released on June 11, 2013.[8] On May 6, 2016, their eleventh studio album, Boxes, was released.

Stewart proved to be a great guest, he shares some stories from his days with ‘The Police’ and really seems to appreciate Adam and Drew for their superhuman abilities to detect abuse and the darkest secrets callers don’t often volunteer. This is his only appearance of the Adam Carolla era.

CLL #787 (feat. Local H) – 10/05/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with Tobydog Tape (pre-2007) patches
This is the new Kevin tape, recovered last year and released for the very first time, it’s been merged with the Tobydog tape and we now have a 100% complete recording and the majority of it is now in higher quality. Only one song is truncated/removed, all of the show content is restored. The band prove to be solid guests and are making their only known appearance on CLL.
From Wiki: Local H is an American rock band originally formed by guitarist and vocalist Scott Lucas, bassist Matt Garcia, drummer Joe Daniels, and lead guitarist John Sparkman in Zion, Illinois in 1987. The members all met in high school in 1987 and founded Local H three years later.
After Sparkman’s departure in 1991 and Garcia’s departure in 1993, Local H signed a record contract with Island Records in 1994 as a duo, where they would go on to release three albums. They became best known for their radio hit “Bound for the Floor“, a single from the 1996 album As Good as Dead which peaked at No. 5 on the US Alternative Billboard Chart. The album As Good As Dead was also certified gold. Daniels was replaced by Brian St. Clair in 1999, and the group has since issued five further albums. Brian St. Clair’s last show with Local H was in 2013.[1] In November 2013 Ryan Harding was announced as the new drummer.[2]
According to the band’s Twitter account, its name comes from combining two R.E.M. songs: “Oddfellows Local 151” and “Swan Swan H”.[3]
CLL #786 (feat. Cypress Hill) – 10/04/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –The Lost Batch of Tapes (2017) with a Tobydog Tape (2008) Patch
This is the new Tape from that Top-Secret Stash we just acquired, there is a 20 second chunk patched in from an old Tobydog Tape that I may have transferred 9 years ago. The band are making what seems to be their 2nd appearance of the Adam era, the band’s previous episode if it exists is still lost to time, perhaps from 95 or 96. They have 8 more appearances on CLL during Adam’s run, between now and 2005. Cypress Hill were some of the most frequent and solid Loveline guests in the show’s history, pre-and post Adam era. This episode is great, it sounds better than ever and the missing 4 minutes have been restored.
CLL #785 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 10/01/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) merged with a JBJ Tape (2008)
This is the new Kevin tape, recovered last year and released for the very first time, The JBJ tape was used for select patches throughout. The episode now has over 3 minutes of the missing 5 restored, now just missing at most 90-120 seconds of content from the cold opening of the episode with the first caller. Originally labeled as ‘Crap of the 80’s’ and ‘Adam Sings’ by JBJ, a fantastic episode with lots of fun between the boys, including engineer Mike. If you love Adam mocking music from the 1980’s this is your episode, hilarious!

CLL #783 (feat. The Flys) – 09/29/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –TobyDog Tape (pre-2007)
This is the only known copy of this show, it’s missing roughly 5 to 7 minutes, the band are making their first of two visits to LoveLine, they return one more time for CLL #933 in April of 1999. They had a song on the ‘Disturbing Behavior’ soundtrack and their voices are similar to Criss Angel. They’re brothers and overall solid guests.
The two guests are great, they are brothers who started a band.
I only remember that they had a song on the “Disturbing Behavior” soundtrack, nonetheless the guys are fantastic.
They discuss their Bizarre childhood(s) and their father, a traveling physician/surfer.
The guests are very smart and lay out some ideas and advice that Drew and Adam agree with.
Adam has tons of funny moments this show, the guys really seem to dig his humor.
Both the brothers accents sound like a cross between “Criss Angel and Tom Burbine” it’s hilarious!!
CLL #782 (feat. Fart Lighting) – 09/28/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –DAT Tape (2017)
This is the rarest of all of the tapes, if only a VHS could be recovered showing the security video, that would be the only greater find. The audio is without comparison and this replaces the old TobyDog Tape from before 2007. This is what I’ve been working on, Adam’s Assterpiece and the first attempt of on air Fart Lighting. “Special guest tonight… My ass. Doin’ more talking than a lot of our guests do” – Adam
CLL #781 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 09/27/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –TobyDog Tape (2008)
This is the only known source, a TobyDog tape possibly transferred by me nearly a decade ago, the show is nearly complete just missing a few seconds in a couple of spots. Adam shares the Tim The Russian Rapper story, Adam and Drew are fresh from Syracuse. This show is full of rare old stories and long lost one time only mentions from both hosts, do not miss it!
The original notes either UnclePenny or I wrote about a decade ago
Great Show! Includes some garlic belching and a great telling of the Tim the Russian rapper story along with some other great, somewhat rare stories.
The show starts right off with the first call. Adam belches up some garlic and says belching is to vomiting as farting is to crapping.
Adam and Drew just got back from Syracuse, NY (AKA “Christland” according to Bobcat Goldthwait).
They missed their flight on Thursday morning.
Adam says he raced over to Drew’s house and Drew asked him to come in to see a picture of his daughter even though they were already running 10 minutes late. Adam actually had to stall the next plane so they’d still get there with enough time to spare.
Drew tells Adam to give out the phone number even though he did a just few minutes ago.
A girl said she used to play “The Fonz,” a disturbing game with her cousins.
Adam says Cameron Diaz used Jimmy’s word “Jackhole” in her Saturday Night Live monologue.
A trucker named “Hammer Down Matt” calls in. He uses some odd trucker lingo such as calling his wife “old lady” and calling his son “the kid.”
Drew asks a girl an A or B question about acid and her response was yes. She doesn’t sound too bright.
Adam announces they will gamble when they come back from a break. Drew says he only has a quarter and ruins the whole set up.
Adam burps up his garlic again. He recalls once dumping garlic powder on a pizza and Drew not wanting to eat it because he gets so gassy from it.
A Lenny Kravitz bumper is played and Adam says he likes the riff. A caller requested Tim the Russian rapper so that is teased before taking a call. Adam then has another belch come up and subjects Drew to the horrible smell.
Adam goes to set up Tim the Russian Rapper but has to yell at Drew for saying he does it when they speak publicly. Adam goes through the history of how he got to know Tim through the Catholic Big Brother program. There is a bit of overlappage from earlier in the show so feel free to skip ahead to about 1:16:00 to continue right on with the story. Adam includes some rare details in this telling of the story. His comedy troupe, ACME Theatre was at a Christmas party one year and Adam was asked to get involved with the Big Brother program. Adam asks Drew to take kill some time while he takes a swig of his water before doing the impression. Drew inhales like he’s trying to think of something to say but then Adam jumps back in. Another rare detail is that Tim wore a pot leaf shirt and would use the word dope very often. Adam would screw with him and use the word out of context.
Another good story is the one about Adam’s senior prom date. It’s wasn’t told very often on Loveline.
She was really good looking but passed away shortly after high school. Drew reveals he had severe mono at his senior prom, walked in with a cane and had to leave early so he could go to sleep. Adam then talks about his something his friend Carl did. Adam wrote down all the sexual things he wanted to do to his prom date on a piece of paper and Carl actually gave the paper to the girl. It was really just redemption for Adam throwing a lemon with a firecracker stuffed inside of it into his apartment, making a huge mess.
There is some more garlic belching.
Adam makes fun of Drew for going to his kids’ open house and ice skating practice right after getting back from a four-day trip with him. Producer Ann chimes in and says Adam would feel different if he had kids. Adam then calls her the Zamboni Queen.
Caller Phil cannot tell the difference between Tylenol and Aspirin and it Drives them nuts because he can’t answer their questions.
A clip of the House of Pain Song Jump Around is played. Adam says that was Tim’s rap and Drew says “Whaaa???” Adam screwed up the lyrics earlier but he liked his better.
CLL #780 (feat. Henry Rollins) – 09/24/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2017) with TobyDog Tape (pre-2007) patches
This is the new Kevin Tape with some patches from the older transfer, 13 of the missing 15 minutes have been restored and the show is nearly complete and just missing about 2 minutes from the beginning. Henry is a lot harder on Adam in this episode than he is during later visits, he’s making his 2nd known appearance of the Adam era and has 5 more appearances between this show and 2002 for his final visit of the Adam era. Some listeners found Henry to be a dick others thought he was just not into Adam’s fart humor, once again decide for yourself. Adam reveals the real reason he was kicked out of his dad’s house, that alone is worth a listen. Adam and Drew are in Green Bay Wisconsin and Henry is back at Westwood One, he only stays for the first hour despite being over 1k miles away from Adam’s gas. This episode is as fresh of the presses as they come with a redo on a Kevin Tape to get some missing content, I had to unpack and sort through 1k tapes then pack them up again, brutal! This episode took 21hrs of work to restore.
CLL #779 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 09/23/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source–Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog (pre-2007) Patches
This is a new merging of two sources, the show is now complete with the missing 5+ minutes restored and somehow extra hilarious! Adam and Drew riff about trying to explain prohibition to aliens and Adam has two specific hilarious interactions with callers, pay attention! Adam Sings, all around terrific “Love Between The Two Hosts” LoveLine at it’s best. The show was previously mislabeled as a JBJ show but it was in fact a Tobydog Recording I didn’t get to transfer, the quality was rough. Now with the quality upgrade the show plays “funnier” perhaps because you don’t need to filter out the noise to focus on the comedy.
CLL #778 (feat. Donny Osmond) – 09/22/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –The Lost Stash of Tapes (2017)
This is from the batch of tapes provided by a certain Liberace of the potentiometers. This replaces the JBJ tape. Donny is making his CLL debut and he returns to the show one more time for CLL #1071 from November of 1999. The missing ending is now restored, solid ep.
From Wiki: Donald Clark “Donny” Osmond (born December 9, 1957) is an American singer, actor, radio personality, and former teen idol. Osmond has also been a talk and game show host, record producer and author. In the mid-1960s, he and four of his elder brothers gained fame as the Osmonds. Osmond went solo in the early 1970s, covering such hits as “Go Away Little Girl” and “Puppy Love“.
For over thirty-five years, he and younger sister Marie have gained fame as Donny & Marie, partly due to the success of their 1976–79 self-titled variety series, which aired on ABC. The duo also did a 1998–2000 talk show and have been headlining in Las Vegas since 2008.
In 1989, Osmond had two big-selling recordings, the first of which, “Soldier of Love“, was initially credited to a “mystery artist” by some radio stations.
CLL #777 (feat. Michael Rosenbaum, Rebecca Gayheart and Tara Reid With Dr. Bruce) – 09/21/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –The Lost Stash of Tapes (2017) With Kevin Tape (2016) Patches
This is from the batch of tapes provided by a certain Liberace of the potentiometers. This replaced the other official recording from the Dr. Bruce collection of official tapes. Adam is playing handball against the drapes for most of the episode, he tries though. At one point Tara Reid yells out “When was the last time you had a big Cock in there” and it is the only funny thing she has ever said.
CLL #776 (feat. Seven Mary Three) – 09/20/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –The Lost Stash Tape (2017) With a 20 second TobyDog Tape (Pre-2007) Patch
This is from the batch of tapes provided by a certain Liberace of the potentiometers, it’s replacing the old TobyDog Tape and restores the missing 2min of content. Adam shares some stories including the Adrienne Barbeau dream story. The band are fairly quiet and making their 2nd and final appearance on CLL, they were previously on CLL #562 from November 24th 1997 (I previously had this incorrect and misspoke in the intro, sorry) . Adam is carrying the show for the majority of the episode.
From Wiki: Seven Mary Three, occasionally abbreviated to 7 Mary 3 or 7M3, is an Americanhard rock band. They have released seven studio albums and one live album, and are best known for their hit single “Cumbersome“.
CLL #775 (feat. Andrew Lauer) – 09/17/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) With JBJ Tape (2008) and TobyDog Tape (pre-2007) Patches
This is the new Kevin tape with better audio quality and now complete with the missing few minutes restored. Andy was playing Charlie on ‘Caroline in the City’ and yes, he was the Rollerblading guy. This is Andy’s only known appearance on CLL, much like David Strickland and Sean Hayes who all had similar sitcom roles. Adam and Drew are both on their game for this episode, it’s fun.
Lauer is the Founder President & CEO of ReelAid, a non-profit organization made up of filmmakers from the Hollywood community producing low to no-cost promotional videos for other non-profit organizations who in turn use them to fund-raise and create public awareness.
This is the newly discovered Kevin Tape, with Toby patches. Updated last minute and replacing the incomplete file. Steve Harwell from the band is making his 3rd appearance on the show, this time solo. After accosting Adam about never getting booked they’re finally having him back on, proving they do love the guy. Some fans claim they find this episode unlistenable, others think of Steve as a DAG like guest and love it, once again decide for yourself! Lots of solid calls too! Now complete!
CLL #773 (feat. Alicia Witt) – 09/15/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –KHOP Tape (Pre- 2007) With Kevin Tape (2016) and TobyDog Tape (Pre-2007) Patches
This a new merging of the old KHOP Tape with the new Kevin tape and a chunk of the Toby Tape, now with better audio quality and 100% complete with the missing 2nd hour return from break segment restored. There is a bonus chunk at the end of the show so make sure to listen to the whole thing. This is Alicia’s only appearance on LoveLine.
From Wiki: Alicia Roanne Witt (born August 21, 1975[1]) is an American actress, singer-songwriter, and pianist. Witt first came to fame as a child actress after being discovered by David Lynch, who cast her as Alia Atreides in his film Dune (1984) and in a guest role in his television series Twin Peaks (1990).
CLL #772 (feat. Caroline Rhea) – 09/14/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –KHOP Tape (pre-2007)
This is the only known recording and it’s almost complete, just missing a few seconds in several different spots. The Audio quality has been remastered and reprocessed. It’s all we have. Caroline is making her 2nd known and final appearance on LoveLine, her last visit was in December of 1997 for CLL #580 which we just recovered and aired in this feed.
CLL #771 (feat. Barbara Harris) – 09/13/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) With TobyDog Tape (Pre-2007) Patches
This is the new Kevin tape with better audio quality and now complete with the missing 5 minutes restored, The TobyDog tape was used for some patching. Barbara Harris from Project Prevention (not the famous actress with the same name) calls in for a rare “phoner” guest, Adam and Drew fight and there is a Loveline tribute song. Dr. Drew goes in depth on his theory regarding the OJ Simpson case and the murders of Ron and Nicole.
From Wiki: Project Prevention (formerly Children Requiring a Caring Kommunity or CRACK) is an American non-profit organization that pays drug addicts cash for volunteering for long-term birth control, including sterilization. Originally based in California and now based in North Carolina, the organization began operating in the United Kingdom in 2010. The organization offers US$300 (£200 in the UK) to each participant. Barbara Harris founded the organization in 1997 after she and her husband adopted the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth children of a drug-addicted mother.[1] As of 7 October 2011 the organization had paid 3,848 clients.
According to Michael Seamark from the Daily Mail, the organization has been controversial, with some comparing it to the eugenics movement.[2]
CLL #765 (feat. Best Of) – 09/03/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source–TobyDog Tape (2007) with Kevin Tape (2016), YoYoma02 Tape (2010) and JBJ Tape (2008 patches)
This is the “new” style of Best Of that Loveline would present when the show’s staff were on vacation and for holiday breaks. The show starts out with a segment which is presumably from CLL #340 with Ice T which was recorded on 01/16/1997, unless he too has a lost episode from later in 1997 or in 1998. Another segment from the lost episode with Rod Stewart with a huge revelation about Dr. Drew and his wife. Next up is Tyra Banks from CLL #665 with aired on 04/16/1998. Next up is Jon Stewart from CLL #341 which aired on 01/19/1997. Then it’s band ‘Sugar Ray’ from either CLL #439 or CLL #541 both episodes from 1997 and both aired in the old CLL feed. Next up is CLL #649 from 03/25/1998 with the band Semisonic. And the show closes with a medley of bits and drops, gold!
CLL #764 (feat. Best Of) – 09/02/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016)
This is the “new” style of Best Of that Loveline would present when the show’s staff were on vacation and for holiday breaks. The show starts out with the same intro as the last few episodes and the first segment is with Carrot Top from his lost 1997 or 1998 appearance, his first visit of the Adam era. Another clip that could be used to flesh out the archive and help track down and finalize some dates. Next up we have Cypress Hill from their lost 1996 or 1997 visit. Then it’s CLL #348 from 01/28/1997 with David Arquette and Minnie Driver which aired in the old CLL feed. Next, we have Ron Jeremy and Serenity from CLL #663 from 04/14/1998. We have another clip of Andy Dick from his lost episode likely from 1997. The final segment is P-Nut from 311 from a lost episode that Adam says was recorded about 6 months prior to this. Possibly episode #641 from 03/15/1998.
CLL #763 (feat. Best Of) – 09/01/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source–Kevin Tape (2016) with JBJ Tape (2008) patches
This is the “new” style of Best Of that Loveline would present when the show’s staff were on vacation and for holiday breaks. The show starts out with the same intro from #761 and then goes into the first segment with guest Rod Stewart from a lost 1997 or 1998 appearance on the show, Rachel Hunter was watching or off mic in the studio, perhaps joining them on air at some point as well. Next up is Jon Stewart from CLL #341 which aired on 01/19/1997. The third segment with the band Fastball from CLL #631 the night Adam decided on a female listener to drive him to the airport the next morning, this may be a lost clip that didn’t air in the version played prior that needs to edited back into the show. Then we have CLL #697 from 06/01/1998 with Guest Kathy Griffin. Next, we have a clip with P-Nut from 311 from a lost episode that Adam says was recorded about 6 months prior to this. Possibly episode #641 from 03/15/1998. The final segment is from CLL #515 with Fiona Apple which was recorded on 09/18/1997 and aired in the old feed as well.
CLL #762 (feat. Best Of) – 08/31/1998 – Monday Night Show

This is the “new” style of Best Of that Loveline would present when the show’s staff were on vacation and for holiday breaks. The show starts out with a new intro from the guys before the first segment with Tyra Banks from CLL #665 with aired on 04/16/1998. The second segment with the band Fastball from CLL #631 the night Adam decided on a female listener to drive him to the airport the next morning, this may be a lost clip that didn’t air in the version played prior that needs to edited back into the show. The next segment is Dicky Barrett from CLL #290 which was recorded on 09/26/1996 or it’s from another lost 1997 or 1998 episode. Then it’s CLL #348 from 01/28/1997 with David Arquette and Minnie Driver which aired in the old CLL feed. The next segment is from CLL #515 with Fiona Apple which was recorded on 09/18/1997 and aired in the old feed as well. The final segment is from Andy Dick’s lost LL radio show debut, they mention a 15yr old in studio who was documenting the show for a story, which could possibly help triangulate the recording date.
CLL #761 (feat. Best Of) – 08/30/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –JBJ Tape (2008)
This is the “new” style of Best Of that Loveline would present when the show’s staff were on vacation and for holiday breaks. The show starts out with a new intro from the guys before the first and second segments, both with Ron Jeremy and Serenity from CLL #663 from 04/14/1998. Next up we have Cypress Hill from their lost 1996 or 1997 visit. The band ‘Sugar Ray’ from either CLL #439 or CLL #541 both episodes from 1997 and both aired in the old CLL feed. The 2nd hour opens with Garbage presumably from CLL #315 from Dec. 1996 which might not have been complete and could be missing this very clip, unless they have a lost 1997 or 1998 appearance which this would also be missing content from. Then we have CLL #697 from 06/01/1998 with Guest Kathy Griffin. The closing Segment is presumably from CLL #340 with Ice T which was recorded on 01/16/1997, unless he too has a lost episode from later in 1997 or in 1998.
CLL #760 (feat. Matchbox 20) – 08/27/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog Tape (Pre – 2007) and a Matchbox 20 Fan Tape from (2010) for patches
This is the new Kevin tape, I patched in the TobyDog tape to fill the holes and a tape sent to us by a fan of the band back in 2010. This is the final show before they take a week off with the new Multi-Segment “Best Of” which would become the standard for the majority of all future replays. This is a hilarious episode, there is another follow up about caller “Michelle” and their blind female detective caller. The band are making their 2nd appearance on CLL and prove to be great guests, both Adam and Drew wanted to go an extra hour as they were having so much fun. The Episode is now 100% complete and all of the missing content has been restored, over 20 new minutes of gold!
CLL #759 (feat. The Love Between the Two Hosts) – 08/26/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog Tape (Pre – 2007) Patches and DAT Tape (2017) Break Reconstruction
This is the new Kevin tape, I patched in the TobyDog tape to fill the holes and now the show is almost 100% complete, just missing the opening seconds of the first call. The Breaks have all been extended and completed with the best source audio that exists on earth, The Kevin Tape is the body of the show and restored over 45 minutes of content that’s been missing for 18 years. This episode features a Cameo by the infamous Blind Female caller and a follow on the “5-Year-Old with Aids” call from #758. Adam goes off on a bit of a rant about deadbeat dads and the doomed society we were heading towards, solid ep!
This is the new Kevin tape, I patched in the TobyDog tape to fill the holes and now the show is a nearly 100% complete, this is Dana’s CLL debut and only appearance. Possibly due to the heavy call the infamous “5-Year-Old With AIDS” that was unfortunately timed, Dana never heard the follow up call which might have increased the chances of him coming back on. Dana is fresh from the first Season of ‘Working’ on NBC with Fred Savage and promoting his new MTV series ‘Super Adventure Team’ and proves to be a general delight, one of the greatest “one and done” Loveline guests.
Update: The Kevin Tape either has the opening minutes of another episode and then #758 starts two minutes in progress or there is a missing 90 seconds to 3 minutes of #758. It would be an unusual start to have Dana off mic for the first call, if you notice that the opening belongs somewhere else I’ll correct it. For now I’m leaving it as is in case the opening does belong on #758, the tobydog tape is missing the opening 11+ minutes so it’s useless for patching nor even comparison in this case.
One more thing to correct in that “other” Podcast Feed you can gain access to via Patreon.
CLL #757 (feat. Howard Jones) – 08/24/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) JBJ Tape (2008) and TobyDog Tape (2007) for patches
This is the new Kevin tape merged with the JBJ tape, Howard is making his only appearance of the Adam Carolla era and Loveline, ever. He’s another decent but somewhat reserved and quiet guest. Adam is on fire and hilarious, The episode has now been merged for the very first time and the missing 30+min of content has been restored. You’ve never heard this one before like this since it aired, only missing a few minutes of the first segment.
CLL #756 (feat. Natasha Lyonne) – 08/23/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –JBJ Tape (2008) With TobyDog Tape (2007) patches
This is a new transfer of the JBJ tape with some of the old Toby tape woven in which nearly completes the recording, still missing the final goodbye segment. Natasha proved to be a somewhat quiet and slightly antagonistic guest, disagreeing with the guys about childhood trauma. Adam is on point and it’s a funny show, definitely worth a listen and there is an early smoke detector chirp going off, the boys don’t yet time it nor focus in on it to ridicule the caller, sadly. This is Natasha’s only appearance after she guested on the MTV variant of LL prior to this appearance.
CLL #755 (feat. Sprung Monkey) – 08/20/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) With TobyDog Tape (2007) Patches
This is the new Kevin tape, with the TobyDog tape used to complete the episode. Adam is on top of his game and there are some decent calls, a girl whose father is having sexual dreams about her, an abuse victim with comically delayed responses. Don’t miss this episode. This is the only known appearance of the band on CLL.
CLL #754 (feat. The Crystal Method with Holly Body) – 08/19/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –JBJ Tape (2008) merged with the Kevin Tape (2016) and the TobyDog Tape (2007)
This is the new Kevin tape, with the JBJ tape and the TobyDog Tape and the episode is still missing about 25-30 seconds of content, so the 3 shows is usually enough to complete one episode rule does not apply here, well kind of. After over 30 hours of redoing work we now have a 99.9% complete copy of this infamous show, the best version to ever be shared online, a painstaking edit where only the best audio was used where applicable, the majority is the JBJ tape with the Kevin Tape and the Tobydog tape patched in. The band are making their 2nd known appearance on CLL and 2nd appearance of 1998 as well, this time bringing “gifts” for Adam. Holly Body tagged along and proves to be far more comfortable with Adam than say Melinda Messenger, whatever it was Adam was going for on #741 he experiences it here, wow! Yes, that is what you think it is hitting the microphone.
Original LLT summary by me or UnclePenny, written in 2008:
These guys are some of the all-time greatest guests, Adam discusses an additional order of 100 LoveLine MTV episodes, and Ken asks Adam about the Man Show which Adam replies is still at ABC but will soon be on the air somewhere.
Adult film actress Holly Body comes in for a couple minutes at the end of the show, Adam asks her to show her breasts to Drew and then he shouts at Drew to grab them but he refuses then Holly runs over and grabs Adam’s arm and puts his hand on her chest, Drew sounds really uncomfortable when Holly shows up.
Adam asks her for a quick flash before she goes and she runs over and rubs her breasts all over Adam’s head which knocks his phones off and leaves him unable to speak due to a mouth full of boob, you can actually hear her breasts hitting the mic.
Very unusual episode!!!!
Adam then laments he hopes Lynette was not listening.
From Wiki: The Crystal Method is an American electronic music and keyboardist duo formed in Las Vegas, Nevada by Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland in the early 1990s. The Crystal Method’s music has appeared in numerous TV shows, films, video games, and advertisements. Their album Vegas, was certified platinum in 2007.
From Boobpedia: Holly Body is a busty feature dancer and porn star. She used the alias Holly “BJ” Morgan in her first films. Holly got her most widely known stage name from the Brian DePalma film Body Double. Holly Body was the porn star character Melanie Griffith played. In 1992, working as waitress in a Mexican restaurant in San Fernando Valley, California, she was recruited by the actor and porn director Rex Hickok (aka Rex Cabo: Mr. Elastic Scrotum). By this time she was attending Santa Monica College and at the same time also working as a bikini dancer and stripper, primarily at the Wild Goose and Bare Elegance, near LAX, winning the 1993 Miss West Coast Wet T-Shirt contest.
At that time, her hair was blonde. After a couple years of retreat, during which she supposedly married a professional football player who was released by the Oakland Raiders, she returned to the adult industry as a brunette and with large breast implants. Holly has been a prolific performer, starring in over 150 films. She has, from time to time, also continued to work as a stripper. In the early 2000’s, Holly underwent facial cosmetic surgery. The results were extreme, as some of her fans could not recognize her with her new look. Holly Body now lives in West Hollywood.
CLL #753 (feat. Kevin Eubanks) – 08/18/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog Tape (2007) Tape Patches
This is the new Kevin tape, with some patches from the old TobyDog tape to nearly complete the recording, it’s now just missing about 1-2 minutes. Kevin proved to be a controversial guest, with some very direct “one time only” moments that happen in his interaction with Adam and Drew, many fans thought Kevin might be racist, some think Adam and Drew were being rude, listen for yourself and make your own decision about what went so wrong during this episode, this is Kevin’s only appearance on CLL.
CLL #752 (feat. Eagle Eye Cherry) – 08/17/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source–Kevin Tape (2016)
This is the new Kevin tape, the only known source for this show that’s been missing for 18 years, I recall hearing this one live very clearly and it’s great to finally be able to restore it to the archive, it’s basically complete, truncated breaks and a few second gaps at the tape flip/10 second break and another spot or two, over 99% complete. This is his only appearance on the show. Let’s all listen again and see if it was any good.
LONG LOST EPISODE, SHARED FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!
From Wiki: Eagle-Eye Lanoo Cherry[1] (born 7 May 1969)[2] is a Swedish musician best known for the single “Save Tonight“.
Cherry was born in Stockholm, Sweden,[2][1] the son of jazz artist Don Cherry and Swedish painter/textile artist Monika Cherry (née Karlsson). He is half-brother of singer Neneh Cherry (his mother’s daughter) and stepbrother to singer Titiyo.[3][4] Other half-brothers are violinist Jan Cherry, Christian Cherry, and jazz musician David Ornette Cherry. At the age of 12, Cherry was sent to school in New York City. He remained there to work as an actor and a drummer in various bands.[3]
In 1988, he was credited as “Teenager” in the film Arthur 2: On the Rocks.[5] In 1993 he starred on the short-lived NBC action/adventure television show South Beach.
His father died in 1995. In 1996 Cherry returned to Stockholm to focus on his music rather than the acting career that had taken precedence in his professional life.[6] He began writing and recording his debut album, Desireless, in his bedroom studio on an acoustic guitar.[6] According to manager Tommy Manzi, Cherry’s perfectionism made him keep the recordings under wraps until the album was virtually complete.[6] The album became a commercial success throughout the world during 1998 and 1999.[3]Desireless sold four million copies worldwide and was certified platinum in the United States.[3]
CLL #751 (feat. Mark-Paul Gosselaar) – 08/16/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –JBJ Tape (2008)
This is the only known tape of this show, it’s essentially complete with truncated breaks and a small gap or two, the best we’re ever going to get! Mark-Paul proves to be a fantastic guest and is very good natured about his TV movie work post ‘Saved by The Bell’ promoting his new movie ‘Dead Man on Campus’ and fall series ‘Hyperion Bay’ on the WB. Adam riffs on ‘Bad Ronald’ and has a “Pillow Infomercial” later in the show, comedy gold! This is a fantastic episode, it’s been nearly a decade since I first recovered it, let’s all listen again and enjoy! This is a newly transferred remaster of the JBJ tape, never before shared online. It’s missing the closing goodbye break. This is Mark’s 2nd known appearance during the Adam Carolla era, though he hints at guesting many times before with Dr. Drew and previous hosts. His last visit was on CLL #381 – Mark Paul Gosselaar – 1997/03/16 which aired in the old CLL feed, also a great episode.
CLL #750 (feat. KoЯn) – 08/13/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with JBJ Tape (2008) and Tobydog Tape (2007) patches
This is the new Kevin tape with some patches from the previously acquired recordings, the band are returning to the show and prove to be quite fun, Adam shares the Dub C bumper with them and the band reveal the origin of their name. The band have 5 more appearances during the Adam era, including another visit in 1998.
CLL #749 (feat. Adam Goldberg) – 08/12/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –TobyDog Tape (2008) with another TobyDog source used for patches
This is the only copy of this show, two TD tapes merged together with almost the exact same content on both tapes, but some slight differences. The best version was used, enhanced and patched with the lower quality backup source. Adam proves to be a great guest and returns to the show two more times, once in 1999 and again in 2003. There are some audio issues including bleed in from another station or previous recording on the source tape, it can be annoying if you focus on it so try not to, this is a good episode.

CLL #747 (feat. David Alan Grier ‘DAG’) – 08/10/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –TobyDog Tape (2007)
This is the only known recording of the show, it’s missing a few beats on the breaks and in the middle from the tape flip but nearly complete, the best we’re ever going to get and now remastered for the last time. DAG has at least another 16 appearances before Adam’s departure and we have all of them, so get ready to save some babies! DAG talks about his gopher problem, insults Jeff Conway and offers up some delightful sincerity to the callers, great episode!

This is the only known copy of this show on earth, it’s nearly complete just missing about 5 minutes from the opening of the show, originally titled/labeled “Celebrity Baseball” it was one of the greatest discoveries of the JBJ collection, Adam has a poem inspired by Culver city. Hilarious Episode!
CLL #745 (feat. Diane Farr) – 08/06/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Spinfly Tape (2009) with TobyDog Tape (2007) patches
This is a new merging of the existing Spinfly Tape and the TobyDog Tape, the show is now complete in full, Diane was the longest running female co-host on MTV Loveline and went on to star in many TV series as well as Adam’s movie ‘Roar Hard’ she’s a fantastic guest and it’s a real shame she didn’t appear more, she has two more visits to the show in January of 1999 and then again in January of 2002 during the ‘Roswell’ era.
CLL #744 (feat. Jeff Ross) – 08/05/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog Tape (2007) patches
This is the new Kevin tape with some patches from the previously acquired recording, the missing 24 minutes have finally been restored after over 18 years. CLL #743 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 08/04/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with 2 different TobyDog Tapes (2007) used for patches
This is the new Kevin tape with some patches from the previously acquired recordings, this episode is a strong no guest show. Adam and Drew revisits the ‘Gaines-Burgers’ analogy from an interview tour and there is a surprise call to someone who has guested on the show before and will guest again one more time before the millennium(hint!) This is a brand-new merging of 3 different recordings and took over 8 hours to build from tape transferring to editing, not counting the previously acquired recordings and the years of work over the last decade. I hope you guys enjoy this one, we get a “sleepy” Adam and a fun Dr. Drew! Adam Tells the Philip The Juggler bachelor party story, goes in depth on the interview with 3TV the local Arizona affiliate and tells an insane car accident story involving his buddy “J.J.”
CLL #742 (feat. Maná) – 08/03/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –Spinfly Tape (2009) with Kevin Tape (2016) and TobyDog Tape (2007) patches
This is the existing Spinfly Tape, it has the best audio so it was used as the body of the show with the Kevin tape used to splice in the missing opening 4 minutes of the show and the TobyDog Tape used to complete the closing break. This is Maná’s only appearance on Classic Loveline, the band are solid guests, somewhat quiet but still good and caller Michelle is a standout, not in a good way.
Maná has topped the all-time lists in much of Latin America and in their native Mexico, where they set landmarks in record sales and concert attendances.[5][6] The band formed in 1986 and released its first album, Falta Amor, in 1990. In 1992, the group released ¿Dónde Jugarán Los Niños?, which sold more than 10 million copies worldwide,[citation needed] (over 700,000 copies in the US alone) becoming the best selling Spanish-language rock album of all time. After several lineup changes, the group released Cuando los Ángeles Lloran (1995), which is noted for its stylistic departure from the band’s previous work. Maná followed with Sueños Líquidos (1997), Revolución de Amor (2002), and Amar es Combatir (2006), which continued the group’s success. The band followed up with Drama y Luz in April 2011. Their most recent album is Cama Incendiada, which was released in early 2015.
CLL #741 (feat. Melinda Messenger) – 08/02/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –Spinfly Tape (2009) with JBJ Tape (2008) and TobyDog (2007) patches
This is the only complete copy of the show to ever be circulated online, they were all missing chunks from the show, this is another one of those “it takes a village” episodes where we needed all 3 recordings to complete the episode. This ep is now controversial in hindsight, many fans on Lovelinetapes.com have discussed Adam’s tone, interactions and strong interest in Melinda, some listeners find it to be uncomfortable and think he was out of line, others think it was simply what Adam does when he likes a woman and perhaps he was just a little too over emphatic this time while noting that Melinda was laughing and joking back the whole time while citing her profession and industry as a reason why she wouldn’t be offended by his words. Once again you decided for yourself if he crossed the line or if it was just in good fun. Great Episode!
From Wiki: Melinda Jane Messenger (born 23 February 1971) is an English television presenter and former glamour model and Page 3 girl. She presented the magazine programme Live from Studio Five and was formerly the co-presenter of the reality show Cowboy Builders.
CLL #740 (feat. Gary Busey) – 07/30/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog Tape (2007)
This is the new Kevin tape with some patches from the previously acquired recording, the TobyDog “Best Of” sadly the Kevin tape is also missing the 30 seconds of content coming into the 2nd break, you can still hear the music so it can’t be more than 45 seconds max. Nearly 100% complete.
CLL #739 (feat. Riki Rachtman) – 07/29/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog Tape (2007) Patches
This is the new Kevin tape with some patches from the previously acquired recordings, Riki is making his first return to LoveLine after his January 1996 departure, Adam, Drew and Riki like it’s 1996 all over again. This episode has been lost for 18+ years, mistakenly fans added no guest episodes to the listing on Lovelinetapes.com, the missing 55 minutes of content is now restored and the show is essentially 100% complete. You have not heard this one, you might think you have, but you have not unless you heard it live almost two decades ago.
CLL #738 (feat. The Love Between the Two Hosts) – 07/28/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) without patches from the Spinfly Tape (2009) nor the TobyDog Tape (2007)
This is the new Kevin tape and I found two other sources very last minute, both of them incomplete and without any of the missing content needed to complete this episode, it’s damn near 100% complete on its own and is only missing about 10-30 seconds from about 15-min. into the show, a satellite drop out or swear was bleeped. I wish people hadn’t re-labeled the old files, it added an extra 30-hrs. of work onto this episode. Enjoy everyone! Adam tells the Adrienne Barbeau sexual assault dream story and even busts out some Tim the Russian Rapper.
CLL #737 (feat. Sean Lennon) – 07/27/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016)
This is the new Kevin tape and the only known copy of the show aside from an upcoming “Best Of” segment off an old TobyDog tape that unfortunately I didn’t transfer, sadly it doesn’t matter as that clip doesn’t have the missing 12 minutes from this episode, it starts already in progress before the first break with Sean in studio, this is a brand new Lost Episode and it’s about as complete as we’re ever going to get, enjoy!

CLL #736(feat. Trey Parker and Matt Stone) – 07/26/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –Spinfly Tape (2009) and JBJ Tape (2008) and unknown tape patches
This is the first time all of the sources have been merged into one file, now the show is complete and correctly dated as 07/26/1998, just as the tapes were labeled by the kids who recorded them 18+ years ago, hmmm funny how that works, too bad some people decided to relabel my files based on their whims hunches and flawed thought patterns, very nice of them to steal a week of my life trying to fix what wasn’t broken until they rubbed their stink all over it. Some fans found the guests too be distant and uninvolved, others did not, once again you decide for yourself. Matt and Trey have one final appearance in 1999, they only guested twice though they do come up in 2004 as Adam is recounting some bachelor party shenanigans in Mexico where they were also guests of the groom.

Alongside Stone, he has also produced various feature films and television series, including Team America: World Police (2004). After several years of development, The Book of Mormon, a musical co-written by Parker, Stone, and composer Robert Lopez, premiered on Broadway and became immensely successful. In 2013, he and Stone established their own production studio, Important Studios.

Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with Yoyoma02 Tape (2010) and JBJ Tape (2008) Patches
This is the new Kevin tape with some patches from the previously acquired recordings, the band are making their only known appearance on CLL, Adam busts a bogus caller, one of the band members gets in a solid dig on the Aceman and they prove to be very humble and patient guests, rolling with Adam’s comedy about Mexico and Adam tells a great story about an ex-girlfriend.

CLL #734 (feat. The Surfers) – 07/22/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with Spinfly Tape (2009) and JBJ Tape (2008) Patches
This is the new Kevin tape with some patches from the previously acquired recordings, Kelly Slater, Rob Machado and Peter King from the short-lived band known as ‘The Surfers’ are making their one and only appearance as a band on CLL. Kelly has some other appearances on the show, the band are pretty much silent most of the show until towards the end, The What’s My Dad Doing in Israel girl calls back with clearer sinuses this time. Great episode and nearly 100% complete, only missing the first 15 – 30 seconds during the opening call and it is the one time only that they play a fan’s mashup of Adam and Drew talking about and to James The Zoosexual.
From Wiki: In the late 1990s Slater, with friends and fellow pro surfers Rob Machado and Peter King, formed a band called The Surfers. The trio released an album in 1998 titled Songs from the Pipe, a reference to the famous surf spot Pipeline on Oahu, Hawaii. Kelly toured Australia with his band, performing in venues such as the Opera House and parliament house. He was given an honorary membership to the Rickson Cricket Club in northwest Sydney.

CLL #732 (feat. Candlebox and Dr. Bruce) – 07/20/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –Dr. Bruce KROQ Tape (2010) with Spinfly Tape (2009) opening patch
This is the full Dr. Bruce tape provided by the Doctor himself, recorded by Engineer Mike as he did for all guest doc’s and guests who requested it, it took 12 years but I finally acquired this batch in 2010, most were pristine and of the best possible quality, a couple were coated in a “coffee like substance mainly comprised of sugar” that he must’ve spilled back in 98, it became a tar like substance that required the tapes be removed from their cases and soaked in 90% rubbing alcohol overnight, then rewound by hand, it took over 72hrs per tape. Enjoy!

Adam has some old stories about living with the Weas during another heatwave a decade earlier. The show is now complete and the missing 5 minutes have been restored along with the audio quality getting bumped up with the new Kevin Tape. The show starts in progress with the guys discussing ‘Politically Incorrect’ and seems to still be missing about 5 minutes of content in total, as complete as we will probably ever get.

CLL #724 (feat. Gravity Kills) – 07/08/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –Spinfly Tape (2009)
This is the only known recording of the show, it’s nearly complete and all we’ve got, so enjoy it!
From Wiki: Gravity Kills is an American industrial rock band from St. Louis, Missouri. Their music was described by one critic as “a blending of eerie industrial rock with a pop-infused melodic chorus and a bit of hard-core head banging.”[1]
In August 1999, drummer Kurt Kerns left the band to pursue a career in architecture. Gravity Kills departed TVT Records and signed to Sanctuary Records & drummer Brad Brooker joined the band to perform & release the third album Superstarved. Following a severe injury to keyboardist Doug Firley’s hands, and lack of tour support from their record label, they were unable to complete a tour for Superstarved and broke up in 2003.
Since 2006, Gravity Kills has reunited for occasional one-off festivals and shows, and is now working on new material.

Source – Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog Tape (2007) patches
This is the brand-new Kevin Tape with some Toby patches woven in, this show was long mistaken with #721 and causes a bit of drama over on LoveLineTapes.com
Now the show is complete and in full, very interesting Leah Andreone discussion and mention of recent guests Eve 6, guest gossip!
LLT Summary from UP or myself nearly a decade ago:
Adam talks about the “heterosexual flag” that a fan sent in. It is like the gay flag (Jolly Roger) but for straight people.
A caller answers the phone by saying “ya, hey.” Adam mentions that he is 1⁄4 black stool Indian, sort of like Chief Thunderbear. The caller lives in a Jehovah Witness’s family. Adam comes up with an idea for a bumper sticker that would read “You can’t say Jehovah without Ho.”
What happens next is pretty bizarre. After the 10 second time, out, Adam and Drew discuss a complaint they got from an angry affiliate, KSOB about the way they handled a call in a show a few nights ago. A tape of this show was lying around and they listen to it on the air. Producer Ann explains the caller was raped and needed to reported it as a crime.
The tape is played and it sounds like a regular LoveLine call. They even tell her it was rape. It turns out this call was the source of the dad in Israel drop. Adam yells to stop the tape all of a sudden when the girl said “What’s my dad doing in Israel.” The Pietasters were the guest that night.
Adam describes engineer Mike’s place as a headshop with two army cots tied together to sleep on.
Caller Johnny is a girl but Adam thinks it’s a guy. He asks him(her) about the Behymen and she still plays along as if she were male.
Adam talks about going to the shrink. He thinks the shrink should be paying him because he’s so entertaining when he goes there.
Adam talks about being hip to John Hiatt. Leaving a couple of his CD’s around will even make it seem like you’re hip.
Some annoying guy starts rambling about Mr. Birchum and Adam hangs up on him.

Adam thanks Clay for filling in for Lisa all last week and this week too, The Spinfly Tape was dated at July 6th but they discuss the holiday as happening last night. This is the first time the recordings have been merged into one file, the show is now complete.
“This Episode has strong callers, a “cousins” theme and Adam drops this gem “However people describe themselves, put everything they said into a Yahtzee scrambler, shake it around, and dump it out on the table and that’s what they are. It’s all the same components but all in the wrong places.” All in all, a great no guest episode, a refreshing change of pace.”

Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with Spinfly Tape (2009) Patches

It is now a complete episode.
From Wiki: Rancid is an American punk rock band formed in Berkeley, California in 1991. Founded by 1980s punk veterans Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, who previously played in the highly influential ska punk band Operation Ivy, Rancid is often credited, along with Green Day and the Offspring, for reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States and bringing punk rock into the mainstream[2] during the mid-1990s. Over their 25-year career, Rancid remained signed to an independent record label and retained much of its original fan-base, most of which was connected to its underground roots.

CLL #705 (feat. Arianna Huffington) – 06/11/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with JBJ Tape (2008) and Spinfly Tape (2009) Patches
This is the new Kevin Tape with patches from the Spinfly Tape and the JBJ tape, Arianna is making her one and only appearance on CLL, it is very heavily themed around politics, tis the season! Adam and Drew have an off-air argument about therapy that bleeds onto the airwaves, engineer Mike has secured the Christopher Lowell drops for Adam and he uses them to great effect, really “filling that space” in the process. Arianna is a fan favorite guest, people love her pronunciations and engagement in the show, solid ep, it’s too bad she never came back like she promised.

From Wiki: Bobcat’s Big Ass Show is an American game show that aired on FX in 1998. Hosted by comedian Bobcat Goldthwait and announced by Eric Waddell, the series was based on a concept created by Waddell and packaged by Stone Stanley Productions.
Because the title contained an obscenity, TV guides and similar magazines would often simply refer to the show as “Bobcat’s Big Show.”

Source –Spinfly Tape (2009) with TobyDog Tape (2006) patches

Update: originally released as #698, this episode is actually #699. presented with a new intro, new merged complete transfer and explanation of what happened with dating process for this show
This is a brand new transfer of the only known source tape for this episode, originally labeled ‘Circumcision Night’ in the JBJ collection, Adam discusses his foreskin and penis. Drew gets a great “asshole” comment slipped in later in the show. Bobcat Goldthwait was scheduled for this episode but rescheduled for next week, which he does actually show up for. The “Port-A-Gee” caller has spurned some debate online, once again decide for yourself is she just annoying or were the guys not getting it. This episode cuts off before the final break and closing segment.
CLL #698 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 06/02/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016)
This is a brand new transfer of a long lost episode, the show previously thought to be #698 is actually #699 and was misdated by someone who didn’t trust the original date provided by the tape source, mishearing the Bobcat Goldthwait clue they jumped the gun and messed up the archive. Thanks to the Kevin Tapes and my ability to obsess over accuracy we now have the recording order corrected and preserved. This is so fresh and hot off the presses, I have no idea what happens in it. If you think you heard #698 yesterday, well you didn’t heard an incomplete version of #699, also now corrected. Sorry for the confusion, trust me I hate it too
Brand New Lost Episode, You Have Not Heard This Unless You Heard it in 1998!
CLL #697 (feat. Kathy Griffin) – 06/01/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –Spinfly Tape (2009) with Kevin Tape (2016) patches
This is a new merging of the existing Spinfly tape with a brand new Kevin Tape, now 100% complete. This episode features the urban legend of selling testicles for 90k per nut, some talk of Kathy’s career at the time and some good old fashioned gambling on the abuse history of a caller. Classic Episode, Prime KG era LL. Kathy has 11 more appearances during the Adam era, one of the most frequent guests on the show and all time most recurring female guest in the show’s history.
CLL #696 (feat. Seth Green and Charlie Korsmo) – 05/31/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –JBJ Tape (2008) with Spinfly Tape (2010) patches
We have 2 nearly complete copies of this episode that I have successfully Frankenstein’d into a single file, one of the all-time rarest bookings in CLL history.
Seth Green making his debut of the Adam Carolla era along with Charlie Korsmo doing his final bit of press before retiring from acting, again! Seth went onto Family Guy and movie stardom and Charlie got into missile defense research according to Seth on the 10-year reunion ‘Can’t Hardly Wait’ Blu Ray commentary.
If you love Seth Green, LoveLine and or the movie ‘Can’t Hardly Wait’ you must hear this classic ep! One of the greatest joys I’ve had in this archiving work was first transferring and hearing this episode 8 years ago. Seth will return to the show at least 5 more times before Adam’s departure, so look forward to those, Charlie is one and done with the show sadly, A Truly Classic Episode!
CLL #695 (feat. Mackenzie Astin) – 05/28/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016)
This is the only known source for this episode, nearly complete it’s only missing a few seconds and the closing “goodbye” segment. This is Mackenzie’s debut appearance of the Adam era but according to Dr. Drew he has guested several times in the past. This episode has been missing for over 18 years and is now nearly restored in full, this is the first time anyone has heard this since it aired. So new to the archive even I have not heard it yet, let’s enjoy it together and hear what unfolds, if this is a gem sadly it’s Mackenzie’s only known appearance during the Adam era, although he did guest on the MTV variant of LoveLine. They go in depth on ‘The Facts Of Life’ and that’s all I’ve heard.
CLL #694 (feat. Nelson) – 05/27/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) With Spinfly Tape (2009) and JBJ Tape 2008 Patches
This is the 3rd known recording for this infamous episode, it’s Adam’s 34th birthday and the guys from ‘Nelson’ make their CLL debut, make sure to listen to CLL #653 from March with the Morrell Twins before this episode. After what goes down during this episode Adam declares them as the nicest guys in the world. Birthday Pie, Drops and chaos a magical show combination indeed!
CLL #693 (feat. Alexandra & Caroline Paul) – 05/26/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source–Kevin Tape (2016)
This is the newest source for this gem of an episode, Alexandra Paul returns and as promised with her Firefighter Twin sister. I used the existing sources to patch in any missing bits and we now have a new Frankenstein recording for you to enjoy. Drew lights up the mic with some haymakers and steady jabs throughout the night, affirmative action in hiring practices for firefighters is brought up by a caller and we get the definition of a “tossed salad” on air, gold!
CLL #692 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 05/25/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source– Kevin Tape (2016) with JBJ Tape (2009)
This is the newest and likely last known source for this episode, now nearly complete with clips from the JBJ tape, it’s just missing the closing 30sec – 1min. Originally labeled as ‘Man Show’ in the JBJ collection this episode features Adam refusing to backdown over some bad news about the show’s fate, Adam drops a rare N-Bomb and rails against The church of Scientology. “Who’s Seth Green?” – Adam
CLL #690 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 05/21/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) With JBJ Tape (2008) Patches
This is the 3rd known source for this episode, which allowed for me to add in the missing few minutes of content to complete the episode, this episode was originally titled ‘Replacement Series’ in the JBJ collection and contains a visit from Dr. Drew’s stalker and great comedic one liners from Drew mocking Adam, particularly the “worms” bit, classic ep!
CLL #689 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 05/20/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source –JBJ Tape (2008)
This is the only known source for this episode, nearly complete it’s missing roughly 8 minutes of show content. Adam riffs about his preferences regarding spit and urine and he’s got a killer NYC cab driver teaching sex-ed bit too. Solid calls, solid rapport, it’s another classic episode!
CLL #688 (feat. Darrell Hammond) – 05/19/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) with Spinfly Tape (2009) patches
This is the newest source and possibly the best quality we have, there are at least 6 different copies of this show in varying length and quality floating around the internet and found on Lovelinetapes.com. Darrell is making his CLL debut, he has 3 total appearances and returns to the show in 2000 and 2004 when co-starring alongside Dr. Drew in ‘New York Minute’ in this episode he shares what’s widely considered the darkest story in LoveLine guest history. It should be noted that years later Darrell admitted to some horrific childhood abuse and drug addiction in other interviews. Legendary Episode!
CLL #687 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 05/18/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source –Kevin Tape (2016) With Spinfly Tape (2009) patches
We now have three recordings for this episode and I was able to flesh out the running time with the missing 90 seconds of content. Originally titled “Adam Ponders Life” as part of the JBJ collection and first known source, there are two insanely great insane callers in Kim and Laurel, a rare unbleeped S bomb and Adam sings ‘The Coasters’ before suggesting funhouse mirrors be installed to mess with kid’s body images early on. Great Episode!
CLL #686 (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts) – 05/17/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –Spinfly Tape (2009)
This is the only known source for this episode, nearly complete it’s only missing a few seconds from the tape flip and it cuts off as Adam is giving some key advice to a caller, before the closing break and show credits. Adam and Drew have a funny conversation about stages of life and measuring success by sex, followed by money and then eventually it becomes all about raising kids. Adam brings up Godzuki and The Condom Loader invention.
If you want to help Engineer Anderson, the longest running engineer in LoveLine history finally make good on his cinematic goals, please watch this, share it and or contribute to the project. It is a modest sum and he can pull it off. If you help Anderson out with this I will consider it a personal favor and gesture of goodwill towards whatever it is we do here, it’s gonna be a really good movie!
CLL #685 (feat. John Taylor) – 05/14/1998 –Thursday Night Show
Source –Unknown Source 2010
This nearly complete copy of the show comes to us from an unknown source, either not properly cataloged as part of a known collection or sent as a one off fan gesture ala the Barenaked Ladies episode from earlier in 1998. Adam goes over some Television ideas and John is an overall solid guest.
From Wiki: Nigel John Taylor (born 20 June 1960) is an English musician who is best known as the bass guitarist and co-founder of new wave band Duran Duran. Duran Duran were one of the most popular groups in the world during the 1980s due to their revolutionary music videos that played in heavy rotation in the early days of MTV. Taylor played with Duran Duran from its founding in 1978 until 1997, when he left to pursue a solo recording and film career. He recorded a dozen solo releases (albums, EPs, and video projects) through his company “Trust The Process” over the next four years, had a lead role in the movie Sugar Town, and made appearances in a half dozen other film projects. He rejoined Duran Duran for a reunion of the original five members of the group in 2001 and has remained with the group since. Taylor was also a member of two supergroups: The Power Station and Neurotic Outsiders.
CLL #678 (feat. Tijuana No!) – 05/05/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source – Spinfly Tape (2009)
This the only appearance by the band, Adam shares the story of the time a guy stripped and danced nude in TJ with a hilarious twist ending. The guests were booked in honor of Cinco De Mayo, a very fun and unusual episode!
CLL #677 (feat. Harvey Danger) – 05/04/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog (2007) tape patches
Previously we had a nearly complete, super low quality mp3 of this infamous episode, now we have the lost 7+ minutes and in much better quality, even with the Kevin Tape 1khz hum found on all of his source recordings. This the only appearance of the band on LoveLine, ever. Adam a new ‘Harvey Danger’ fan ends up not so much of a fan after this episode, some fans feel it was Adam’s fault, others disagree, once again listen decide for yourself!
“The band was 35 minutes late due to problems with their limo ride. Luckily karma stepped in and these guys haven’t seen the inside of a limo since 1998.” – Pulseczar on LLT, possibly quoting Adam talking about this show and the band at a later date.
From Wiki: Harvey Danger was an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1993, and rose to prominence in 1998 with the single “Flagpole Sitta“, which is also used as the theme tune to the British sitcom Peep Show. Their music has been categorized as genres indie rock and alternative rock.[1][2] On August 29, 2009, the band played its final show at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle. The band’s debut album, Where have all the merrymakers gone?, has sold over 500,000 copies, with “Flagpole Sitta” still receiving regular airplay around the world. On July 29, 2014, 17 years to the day after its initial release, the album was re-released on vinyl as an LP by the independent record labelNo Sleep Records.
Post-breakup (2014–2016)
Since the band’s breakup, Nelson has continued to write and edit for The Stranger alternative weekly newspaper, which he had done for most of the duration of the band’s career. As of 2016, he is the publication’s arts editor and music critic.[11] Huffman also worked for the newspaper as an arts director.[12]
Where have all the merrymakers gone? was released, on vinyl for the first time on July 29, 2014 by the independent record label No Sleep Records.
The packaging for Where have all the merrymakers gone? LP will feature new artwork, designed by Huffman, Sult and Nelson, using the iconic house from the original cover art now updated to reflect the passage of time, now surrounded by freeways and skyscrapers.[13]
Founding bassist Aaron Huffman died of respiratory failure on March 6, 2016, at age 43. His death was reported in The Stranger by his former bandmate Sean Nelson.
This starts just a few minutes late. Adam says Harvey Danger will be in later and that he loves their song. Drew is reading a fax addressed to Adam from a recent caller. This guy’s wife was going to have twins but one would probably have to be aborted. This letter states they didn’t listen to him when he called in. They talked to him for 10 minutes on two different shows. Apparently he tried to call in again but didn’t get through.
Adam uses the reverb button to demonstrate how he’d make an announcement on a bullhorn if he had sex when he was 14. Caller John asks Drew if crystal meth makes your brain crumble and Drew gets fired up about these wives’ tales.
Adam mentions his high school prom date Jenny died about 4 years after they went. She died during an aerobics class from a rare heart condition. Coming back from a break Adam says Drew is still in the bathroom. Producer Ann says he uses the women’s bathroom and doesn’t put the seat down. Apparently Harvey Danger had some trouble with their limo and are still on their way.
The band comes in and Adam starts to praise their song. Drew tries to move the show along but Adam has his mic shut off.
Adam and Drew attempt to do a LoveLine reenactment but the caller tries to answer while Adam and Drew are talking. The reason they have to make fun of him is because he asked for some “reinsurance.”
Adam talks about the time Drew and him went to the pottery barn and picked up a salad bowl for Ann’s birthday. They think back to an Insane Clown Posse show and how crazy
the guys were. Apparently Violent Jay was just locked up. Drew says it’s disrespectful for Adam to see his therapist when he is drunk.
CLL #676 (feat. The Love Between the Two Hosts) – 05/03/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source – Spinfly Tape (2009)
This is the only known recording of this classic episode, it opens with a caller who says “like” even more times than Damon Lindelof on a ‘Lost’ episode commentary track. “Rogue Sperm” and a solid call from a young enlisted man dealing with some interpersonal chaos, solid episode!
CLL #675 (feat. The Love Between the Two Hosts) – 04/30/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source – Blend of a Kevin Tape (2016) and a Spinfly Tape (2009)
We now have a 100% complete version of this show, the breaks, opening, ending and tape flips gaps have been filled in. Adam and Drew deal with a “night of the tards” and heavily discuss the adult film ‘Flesh Gordon’ classic show!
CLL #674 (feat. Stabbing Westward) – 04/29/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016)
This episode has been missing for 18 years, there are no other known recordings besides this nearly complete tape from good old Kev. Once again I have not even heard this episode, instead of making you wait longer how about we listen and enjoy this one together. The band previously guested on MTV Loveline in 1996 and they were on CLL #235 which aired on August 22nd 1996 and was released in the CLL feed before it ended, they return with their 3rd and final visit on CLL #1466 from May 13th 2001. NEWLY RECOVERED LOST EPISODE!
CLL #673 (feat. Bad Religion) – 04/28/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016)
October 3rd 2016 Update – We have the full complete show, it was hidden on another Kevin Tape, under the wrong label.
Adam, Bad Religion and no Doctor, The complete show!
Sadly, we only have this copy of this show, on Loveline Tapes it is mixed up with the infamous “Do You and Mommy Sex” episode from January of 1999, Bad Religion are the most recurring band guests during Adam’s tenure on LoveLine. Bad Religion return to the show for a very fun episode from a very bizarre era for the band. The episode is less than half complete but it’s all that exists online, the quality was boosted from 24khz to 44.1 and everything was normalized and enhanced the best it could be considering the low quality lossy source recording.
CLL #672 (feat. Jamie Kennedy) – 04/27/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016) With TobyDog Tape Patches
Previously we only had about 46 minutes of this episode, it’s now restored to full length thanks to the new Kevin Tape, Jamie was a Classic LoveLine regular and one of the only people to ever have a LoveLine joke in their standup act. He has 3 more known appeared from the Adam era, possibly 4 if there is a lost ep from 1999. Sadly, his previous episode before #672 is still missing from the archive.
From Wiki: When Kennedy first arrived in Los Angeles, he became a professional Hollywood extra. During his first night in L.A., he was reading a Joan Riversautobiography in a diner when the waiter explained to him that he had been in a dozen movies as an extra. Kennedy asked, “If you’ve been in so many movies, why are you a waiter?” The waiter responded, “I have to keep my day job.”[citation needed]
After a few years of struggling, Kennedy was unable to find an agent and worked as a host at Red Lobster. He auditioned for over 80 commercials and could not book one. He then took a job as a telemarketer, and learned that he had a talent in selling things. Kennedy then thought that if he could sell anything, “why not sell myself?”, becoming his own agent.[citation needed]
Kennedy created a false persona, screen agent “Marty Power”, to attract the attention of real agents and managers over the phone, who would later book his performances. He came to prominence in the late 1990s for playing Randy Meeks in the Scream film series.[4] His lead role as Tim Avery in Son of the Mask earned him aGolden Raspberry Award nomination for Worst Actor.[5]
CLL #671 (feat.Matt George & Matty Liu) – 04/26/1998 –Sunday Night Show
Source – Spinfly Tape (2009)
Both Matt and Matty are making their only known CLL appearances, promoting the surf movie ‘In God’s Hands’ this is one of two known copies of the show, the other copy is oddly edited and missing the opening 10 minute, this is a brand new transfer from a classic Spinfly tape, broadcast locally from KROQ the home affiliate.
From IMDb – Matty Liu, who sometimes goes by the name of Matthew Stephen Liu, is a champion surfer from Hawaii. Five time Hawaiian surfing champion. Now living in California part time where he enjoy’s photojournalism for Surfer magazine and traveling the world for surf. Matty has appeared in over thirty national and international commercials. For Matty Liu, life in the arts, is the only life for him. A creative challenge is what it’s all about…

Source – Kevin Tape (2016)
Another long lost episode, missing for 18 years and now restored to the archive thanks to the Kevin tape Collection that was completed this year. Once again let us listen to it together, I hope you enjoy it!
CLL #669 (feat.Dedee Pfeiffer) – 04/22/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016)
Dedee is making her only know appearance on CLL, promoting her sitcom ‘For Your Love’ and this new file replaces the previous 24 minute JBJ Tape from 2008, we now have the majority of the show, just missing the last break, the show is probably missing 2-5 minutes at most, the best we’re probably ever going to get. This episode is mostly new to the archive and the majority of the show hasn’t been heard in 18 years, we can listen together and find out if it is any good.
From Wiki: Dorothy Diane “Dedee” Pfeiffer (born January 1, 1964) is an American film and television actress.
CLL #668 (feat. L7) – 04/21/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016) with JBJ Tape (2009 Tape Patches
L7 are making their 2nd known appearance of the Adam era, they were previously on in 1997, it aired as CLL #500 in the previous feed, it was a partial recording “Best of” show with Fiona Apple. This episode was previously only 39 minute, now we have nearly the full show, just missing a few seconds after the tape flip and another tiny chunk or two as well. The best we are ever going to get. Adam and Drew discuss what a bizarre episode 667 was and then reassure Producer Ann that her off the wall booking choices only end up inspiring better and sometimes bizarre show content.
L7 as Camel Lips for John Waters “Serial Mom”
From Wiki: L7 is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, United States. They were active from 1985 to 2001, and reunited in 2014.[5] Due to their sound and image, they are often associated with the grunge movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s.[6] L7 influenced many of the riot grrrl bands of the 1990s.

This nearly complete show is now complete thanks to the new Melissa Tape, we used as much of her better sounding tape as possible and then wove in the audio from the TobyDog Tape I transferred back in Hawaii 8 years ago. This is a great no guest show with some good stories and some guy that asks his girlfriend to marry him over the air.
Adam talks about Tyra Bank’s love for Dr. Drew the week before. Drew says he’s going to be on Politically Incorrect the next night and is going to debate marijuana against Woody Harrelson.
Adam and Jimmy were at a strip club the night before. Adam asks all strippers listening to not talk about being pregnant during lap dances.
A girl thinks this guy is gay and Adam describes him perfectly for wearing argyle socks, mock turtlenecks and being obsessed with being clean all the time.
A goofball 13-year-old and his goofball band play a song called “Drugs Suck” over the phone.
A caller talks about her friend getting a tapeworm when she went to Mexico. Adam says that’s the only thing he remembers from Biology which he failed and was then required to take science. This goes on to yelling about Mr. Gregory failing him from drivers ed.
Adam tells a story about taking drivers education privately after failing from public school. They were driving around and the instructor tells him to pull over at a liquor store. The instructor ran inside and grabbed a 3-D Hustler and read it while wearing the 3-D glasses for the rest of the ride.
Adam was eating at the Caesar’s Buffet earlier and has some gas.
Adam and Jimmy were at Hoover Dam earlier and he tells a story about a guy named Herb. He used to be a tour guide but was fired for telling people how to blow up Hoover Dam.
Due to the hot weather lately, Adam yells at all weathermen for their crappy 5 day forecasts and calls them boobs.
Caller Billy has an odd request. He attempts to ask his girlfriend to marry him over the air. She says yes and tells them she is shocked and overwhelmed but doesn’t sound like it at all.
Adam has Billy do a take 2 asking her to marry him with more enthusiasm. She answers pretty much the same way but then comes through with a better sounding answer.
The song that is usually played at the end of the show is played before the last break. Adam asks Drew to kill him if he listens to the 5 day forecast or plants bulbs.
CLL #665 (feat. Tyra Banks) – 04/16/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016) with Spinfly Tape (2009) patches
This Episode is sadly still missing the final closing 30-90 seconds where Tyra began roasting Adam over the coals for his comments about her modeling career and the barriers she’s broken down with said career, the rest of the show is complete, the Kevin tape was used for the body of the show as the sound was richer even with the “Kevin hum” it was slightly better audio.
Tyra Lynne Banks[5] (born December 4, 1973)[6] is an American model, television personality, talk show host, producer, author, actress, singer and business woman. She was a Victoria’s Secret Angel from 1997 to 2005. By the early 2000s, Banks was one of the top-earning models in the world.
In 2003, Banks created and began presenting the long-running UPN/The CWreality television series America’s Next Top Model, which she executive produces and presented for the first twenty-two seasons. Following the original cancellation of the series in October 2015, it was announced Banks would remain as the series’ executive producer for the America’s Next Top Model, but would no longer be the host. Banks was also the co-creator of True Beauty, and had her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show, which aired on The CW for five seasons and won two Daytime Emmy awards for Outstanding Talk Show Informative. She also co-hosted the talk show FABLife for two months.

CLL #664 (feat. Shane) – 04/15/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016) with Spinfly Tape (2009) patches
This Episode has some very sad news for those following Adam’s recent journey trying to fulfill a childhood dream, hint! We don’t do trigger warnings for the show but this one could bum you out, it is an essential episode though, hilarious, bizarre and tragic all in one. A newly merged recording, 100% complete.
From Wiki: Shane (born December 16, 1969) is the stage name of an American former pornographic actress and director, known for creating the Shane’s World series of adult videos after having debuted in the Seymore Butts video series. She is also the founder of an adult film production company of the same name. Shane is a member of the AVN Hall of Fame.
CLL #663 (feat. Serenity and Ron Jeremy) – 04/14/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source –Melissa Tape (2014) with a Kevin Tape (2016) and TobyDog Tape Patches
This is Ron and Serenity’s first known appearance from the Adam era, Serenity comes back to the show for two more visits in 1999 and 2001, Ron comes back on 3 mores times in 2001, 2003 and 2004. Ron comes off like a very “normal guy” and Serenity is a fun guest, this episode explains the origin of the story involving Ron’s replica penis rolling around in Adam’s car trunk, a lot more happens with that rubber dork too btw. Lots of talk about the band Sublime, Jeremy is an expert when it comes to their catalog and seems to be friendly with the band, a young man calls in proud to tell the guys about his mom dating Ron. The previous recording for this episode was only 40 minutes in length but now we have the full length much like the penis Adam gets beaten with, don’t skip this one!
From Wiki: Ronald Jeremy Hyatt (born March 12, 1953), known by the stage name Ron Jeremy, is an Americanpornographic actor and filmmaker. Nicknamed “The Hedgehog”,[1] he was ranked by AVN at #1 in their “50 Top Porn Stars of All Time” list.[4] Jeremy has also made a number of non-pornographic media appearances. CLL #662 (feat. Will Sasso & Aries Spears) – 04/13/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source – Melissa Tape (2014) with Kevin Tape (2016) patches.
Another long lost episode, entirely absent from the internet forever until today. Will and Aries are promoting MADtv on Fox, Will has two other known appearances, he returns on 03/11/2004 and again on 01/13/2005 where Adam and Will come up with ‘The Gay Morning Zoo” bit that is an all-time classic. Aries returns to the show on 09/02/2004 with “shots to the face” after Adam is fresh from a fishing trip in Mexico. I still haven’t had time to even listen to this show, so we’re all hearing it again for the first time, enjoy!
From Wiki: William “Will” Sasso (born May 24, 1975) is a Canadian actor and comedian, most notable for his five seasons as a cast member on MADtv from 1997 to 2002 and for starring as Curly in the 2012 film reboot of The Three Stooges.
From Wiki: Aries Spears (born April 3, 1975) is an American stand-up comedian, actor, voice artist, and comedian. Spears was a regular on Fox’ssketch comedy series MADtv, appearing in 198 episodes, making him the second longest-serving cast member on the show falling behind Michael McDonald. He recently released a special called Aries Spears: Hollywood, Look I’m Smiling.
From Wiki: Mad TV (stylized as MADtv) is an Americancomedysketch television series originally inspired by Mad magazine. The show featured animated Spy vs. Spy and Don Martin cartoon shorts as well as images of Alfred E. Neuman in earlier seasons, although the sketch comedy rarely if ever had any relation to the magazine’s content. Its first TV broadcast was on October 14, 1995. The one-hour show first-ran on Saturday nights on Fox, and was in syndication on Comedy Central. In Australia the show screens on satellite and cable TV channel The Comedy Channel and in late-night timeslots on free-to-air broadcaster the Nine Network and its affiliates.
Mad TV was created by Fax Bahr and Adam Small. The series was originally produced by Bahr/Small Productions and Quincy Jones/David Salzman Entertainment (QDE). After Bahr and Small left the series at the end of the third season (they were later credited as “executive consultants“), the series was handled by QDE and distributed by WB Television Distribution (its parent company Time Warner Entertainment owns Mad magazine through its DC Comics subsidiary). The series was directed by Bruce Leddy (196 episodes),[1] as well as David Grossman, and Amanda Bearse.
On November 12, 2008, Fox announced that Mad TV’s 14th season would be its last. David Salzman said that he would be exploring the continuation of the show on another channel; possibly cable.[2] In early 2009, the show was moved to air after Talkshow with Spike Feresten, the show that normally followed Mad TV, as a test, before being moved back. The series finale aired on May 16, 2009.[3] The show was nominated for 35 Emmy awards, winning five, and was succeeded by an unrelated animated sketch comedy series, MAD, that premiered on Cartoon Network in 2010.
On December 11, 2015, it was reported that the series would be returning for a one-hour special on The CW to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary; the special aired on January 12, 2016. A large portion of the original cast returned.[4]
On April 11, 2016, The CW announced that it was reviving the show for an 8-episode season to air in primetime. On June 15, 2016, the season was confirmed by The CW to be airing July 26 at 9 p.m
CLL #661 (feat. Natasha Henstridge) – 04/12/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –Matty Tape (2016)
Another long lost episode, only a partial recording and the only known copy on earth. Natasha is making her first known appearance on the radio show, promoting ‘Species 2’ and being a general delight. Natasha is among the trifecta of beautiful women who had crushes on Adam Carolla, Fergie from ‘Wild Orchid’ and ‘Black Eyed Peas’ being another and Jennifer Grey. This is a very funny episode, it was undated and the 12th seemed like the only opening in the early part of April to coincide with the movie promotion, the date was confirmed by Adam in the next episode with the Cast of MadTV, a flawless date for a sadly incomplete episode. Natasha already seemed to have an on air history with Adam, it is likely she guested on the MTV show while promoting Species.
From Wiki: Natasha Tonya Henstridge (born August 15, 1974) is a Canadian actress and former fashion model. In 1995, she came to prominence with her debut movie role as the genetically engineered human-alien hybrid Sil in the science-fiction thriller Species, then the human-alien hybrid Eve in Species II and Species III. Other notable on-screen roles include The Whole Nine Yards, The Whole Ten Yards, It Had to Be You, Ghosts of Mars, She Spies, the television series Eli Stone, and the Canadian miniseries Would Be Kings, for which she won the Gemini Award for best actress. Her most recent role is as Dawn Chamberlain on the television series The Secret Circle.
CLL #660 (feat. Tristan Taormino) – 04/09/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016) with JBJ Tape (2008) and TobyDog (2007) patches.
Another newly restored episode, previously we only had a 50-minute chunk from the TobyDog tapes in very rough quality and another short segment from a JBJ tape, now we have the full show complete thanks to a new Kevin Tape. This is Tristan’s first of two known CLL appearances, she has another visit in 2002 almost exactly 4 years later. Tristan and her expertise lead to a very funny 6 minutes that close out the show, solid ep!
From Wiki: Tristan Taormino (born May 9, 1971)[1] is an American feminist author, columnist, sex educator, activist, editor, speaker, radio host, and pornographic film director (she also appeared in three films, two of which she directed, 1999–2000).
CLL #659 (feat. Annalisa & Sandy) – 04/08/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source – Melissa Tape (2014) with Kevin Tape (2016) and TobyDog (2007) patches
Annalisa and Sandy are making their only known Classic LoveLine appearances, professional dancers from the local establishment known as ‘Bob’s Classy Lady’ which was a long running adult entertainment establishment in the valley and has been and will continue to be referenced by Adam many, many times. Adam has a solid tax rant and the boys reminisce about their horrible 1997 MTV Spring Break experience in Panama City. The show ends with Adam complaining about Tony Danza and Scott Baio. He wants to see them on a special called “Set Adrift in the Atlantic on a Dingy.”
CLL #658 (feat. Siobhan de Maré) – 04/07/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source – Melissa Tape (2014) with Spinfly Tape (2010) and JBJ Tape (2008) patches
Siobhan de Maré of MONO making her only known CLL appearance, it’s a great episode and Adam seems to really like her, Adam and Drew both have wicked one liners and Siobhan literally begs Adam to show her his penis, this episode is now complete with a newly discovered Melissa Tape that contained the last 15 minutes of the episode. DO NOT MISS THIS EP!
From Wiki: Siobhan de Maré is a singer, mostly known from lending her voice to the album Formica Blues by the UK band Mono in 1997. In 2000, she joined Robin Guthrie (formerly of Cocteau Twins) to form Violet Indiana, which varies from shimmery wall of sound style with similarities to dreampop, to sparse single-guitar songs with less effects. [1] Siobhan has a sensual, ethereal voice.
CLL #657 (feat. Angelica Bridges) – 04/06/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source – Spinfly Tape (2010) and several other sources used for patching.
Angelica is making her first of two Classic LoveLine appearances, this is a fun show with a fun guest, her next visit from 2001 is one of the all-time greatest appearances in the show’s history and inspires Adam to tell his two all-time rarest stories, The Nude Sunbathing and Estie Kitchen Fire stories and in the best detail with the best phrasing and comedy, look forward to that one and enjoy this building block that leads up to it. Adam talks about lighting farts and they continue The ‘Good Times’ lyrics debate. Brand New Merging, Complete Episode!

Source – Melissa Tape (2014) with Kevin Tape (2016) and Spinfly Tape (2009) patches
Yet another source of this classic episode, Melissa’s tape had the overall best sound, the guys engage in a lively debate over the lyrics to the ‘Good Times’ theme song which wasn’t solved until I appeared on the Adam Carolla Podcast and went over the lyrics with Adam 12 years after this aired. The show now contains the missing intro with the guests and is a 100% complete episode. Unbleeped S Bomb From Duane towards the end of the show too. Explicit Closing on this one, NSFW nor for listening with kids in the car, it comes on fast and so inappropriately, enjoy the impromptu Live on-air intercourse! “Hanging in and Jiving, Good Times!” – Actual Lyrics.
From Wiki: Jonathan Niven “Jon” Cryer (born April 16, 1965)[1] is an American actor, screenwriter, television director, and film producer. CLL #653 (feat. Carla and Carmen Morrell) – 03/31/1998 – Tuesday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016) with Spinfly Tape (2010) patches
We now have a 4th incomplete copy of this show, sadly everyone missed the first segment. This new recording has an extra 10 minutes of the show; just missing roughly 18-19 minutes of content now. This is probably the best we’re ever going to get. This Episode is the infamous “Morrell Twins” episode that will come up again when guests ‘Nelson’ appear on the show in a few dozen eps from now, this episode has annoying laughter, a possible Lesbian sexual encounter in the restroom, serendipitous recording ala ‘The Security Guard’ incident from 2000. We get a weird tidbit about Weird Al that makes him even weirder. FIXED Version, removed the clip edited from #655 ending that was placed after Adam’s mahalo, sorry for the confusion, thanks to listener @startrooper3000 for bringing it to my attention and sorry if you listened already and got spoiled, it was my fault. Final version is 72 minutes, still missing over 20 minutes of content.
CLL #652 (feat. Jesus Jones) – 03/30/1998 – Monday Night Show

Long Lost Episode, missing for 18+ years now recovered, it is missing the final break and a few seconds from after the tape flip at the start of the 2nd hour. Adam apologizes to Producer Ann in this episode and the band are making their only known appearance on LoveLine during the Adam Era, it seems to be their final appearance as well as possibly their first ever.
I’ve been waiting to share this one for nearly 2 years, though it wasn’t edited nor processed until just a few hours ago, we previously only had a 32-minute partial recording off of a JBJ Tape, many fans took delight in the very short but sweet clip. Now thanks to Melissa we have the full show, if you like the musical ‘Grease’ or just Adam singing in general then this show is for you, light, fun and totally unique. Marne from ‘Camp Nowhere’ and ‘Something So Right’ is making her one and only Classic LoveLine appearance, so much fun!

Another newly recovered lost show, date confirmed from the Concert the band played earlier in the evening in Chicago, by coincidence in the same city at the same time the guys ended up guesting on LoveLine, broadcasting live from Chicago at 11 p.m. Central Time. A truly one time only episode, the band are returning to the show which they would do several more times before Adam’s departure in 2005, this predates the Charlize Theron story by about 5 years for those wondering.
From Wiki: Third Eye Blind is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1993. The songwriting duo of Stephan Jenkins and Kevin Cadogan signed the band’s first major label recording contract with Elektra Records in 1996, which was later reported as the largest publishing deal ever for an unsigned artist. The band released their self-titled album, Third Eye Blind, in 1997, with the band largely consisting of Jenkins (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Cadogan (lead guitar), Arion Salazar (bass guitar), and Brad Hargreaves (drums). Shortly after the release of the band’s second album in 1999, Blue, with the same line-up, Cadogan was released from the band under controversial circumstances.
The band continued, but with many line-up changes and gaps between album releases. The band released Out of the Vein in 2003 and Ursa Major in 2009, with only Jenkins and Hargreaves as the remaining core members. The band’s current iteration, including Kryz Reid (lead guitar), Alex Kopp (keyboards), and Alex LeCavalier (bass guitar), recorded the band’s fifth studio album, Dopamine, which was released in 2015.
The band found commercial success in the late 1990s, with Third Eye Blind and Blue going six times and single platinum in the United States respectively. Several songs were a commercial success as well, with “Semi-Charmed Life,” “Jumper,” and “How’s It Going to Be,” all reaching the Top 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100, and “Never Let You Go” reaching the Top 20. Third Eye Blind has sold around 12 million records worldwide

Semisonic making their CLL debut, this is a brand new show and the date is confirmed via context clues and an upcoming 5 a.m. wake up call to meet at LAX and fly to Chicago to tape 3 Jenny Jones episodes which both of the boys are dreading. Hilarious, one time only content, don’t miss this one!

Tim is making his CLL debut, he would return to the show two more times. Tim will be on the show again for CLL #1311 from 10/08/2000 when he’s promoting ‘The Ladies Man’ feature film and then again in 2004 with Tina Fey promoting ‘Mean Girls’. Tim has excellent chemistry with the boys, he busts out the Ladies Man a bit and they talk SNL, very solid episode and brand new to the archive, we previously had about 18 min. from a Yoyoma Tape but now we have almost the complete episode. Enjoy!
From IMDB: Tim Meadows was born on February 5, 1961 in Highland Park, Michigan, USA as Timothy Meadows. He is an actor and writer, known for Mean Girls (2004), Saturday Night Live(1975) and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007). He was previously married to Michelle Taylor.

This tape was labeled as “Adult Boutique” in the JBJ collection, we now have a new source with the Kevin tape which confirms the date. Adam and Drew, just the love between the two hosts, some early “Ace Rockolla” discussion between the guys and some other super rare bits of content, previously we only had a 73-minute file, now we have the full show, only missing the intro music.
CLL #644 (feat. Sharon Case) – 03/18/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source – Melissa Tape (2014)
Drew tells Adam and Sharon about watching the 1998 Soap Opera Digest Awards which aired on February 27th 1998. Adam goes on a jag about Susan Lucci and her record setting number of nominations without a win. Sharon mentions the upcoming 25th anniversary of ‘The Young and The Wrestless’ which was March 26th 1998. Adam goes in depth on a recent episode of ‘Melrose Place’ with a helicopter accident related coma he watched with Lynette. A 1998 MTV Spring Break Promo helped triangulate the date, it said the coverage begins this weekend, meaning 03/13/1998. Dr. Drew tells the “Coolidge Effect” story. Dr. Drew has to bail early and Adam tells Sharon about the one time his mom fed the kids “weeds” like the kind growing by the jungle gym. A Last Minute Kevin Tape Discovery changed the date on this one, please ignore the intro where the show is listed incorrectly as #641.

Case, who is considered a leading actress for the series, won the 1999 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her performance which has been met with critical acclaim.
This is a long lost episode, never known to exist, Eion is making his CLL debut and only known appearance, a one and done appearance, this was recorded after his first two big jobs, guest starring on season one of ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ for the episode ‘The Pack’ and his starring turn in ‘Askewniverse’ sister project ‘A Better Place’ written and directed by Vincent Pereira the official Kevin Smith and “View Askew” historian, Eion is fresh from a two episode stint on ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and he’s promoting his short-lived series ‘Significant Others’, Eion would go on to star in ‘Band of Brothers’ and was about to start work on ‘Fight Club’. I haven’t even had time to listen to the episode yet, so this one is a surprise for all of us.
A quick update on episodes, #641 scheduled for release last week was discovered to be #644 and will be released next, episode #641 is now unknown, it seems to be a “new” episode but is sadly now lost to time, possibly forever. Listener Nic was able to determine that #635 is for sure a best of episode which means we probably have already aired it in the feed, so we’re not missing much unless they played a lost ep from 1997 but that’s unlikely. Listener Brad noticed that the F-bombs in ‘I Choose’ by The Offspring were not edited out, that is how the show aired without censorship by mistake and Listener Pete discovered that the closing 3-4 minutes of #630 is actually a chunk from #623, mysteries solved, thanks fellas!

This one is now complete thanks to the new Kevin Tape, it’s been online for many years but now we get a major sound quality upgrade, very fun show, lots of history of the band and how they formed and toured with such a young front woman. Adam and Annabella Lwin sing a duet towards the end of the show which is thankfully now intact, well more intact than it was.
From Wiki Bow Wow Wow are an English 1980s new wave band, created by Malcolm McLaren to promote his and then girlfriend/business partner Vivienne Westwood’s New Romantic fashion lines. The group’s music has been described as new wave, pop and worldbeat, characterized by an “African-derived drum sound”.
This episode is 98% complete and has been missing since it originally aired almost 26 years ago. Originally theorized to be best of, perhaps from a clue from episode #955 or #958, Adam teases the cast of MadTV arriving tomorrow and talks about meeting Alan Thicke with Drew while traveling from Atlanta to Greenville South Carolina.
This is a long lost episode that’s been missing for over 24 years and is roughly 68% complete with a killer first transfer from the new acquired XJosh Archive, the first tape transferred #99 of the hundreds of HiFi VHS recordings he has provided us, this is just the beginning of what’s to come. Adam is late for the show due to taping ‘Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place’ as the filming ran long as these things sometimes do. Drew starts the show solo taking calls!
This episode is 99.9% complete, just missing a few moments from the opening of the episode. Both guests are making their only known appearances on CLL, this episode has been missing since it originally aired.
This episode is 49.9% complete, missing the first hour and part of the closing goodbye segment. This episode has been missing since it originally aired over 25 years ago, who knows what happens!
Source – XJosh VHS Archive (2023) with a Kevin Tape (2016) patch
Newly updated sources, now 99.9% complete just missing the opening intro. Old Notes: This is a new Kevin Tape with a couple tiny patches from the existing Toby Tape, sadly this episode starts at almost the exact same time as the Tobydog tape, same affiliate too, the odds of this are insane. This show is missing about 11min of content from the first segment, the end is now complete and intact, fans on LovelineTapes were bummed the previous recording was missing the end of a call, now it’s restored. The boys are broadcasting from Clearwater Florida. Episode #791 is still missing from the archive, either Best Of or a no guest show presumably.
This episode is 99.9% complete, just missing the show opening and closing goodbye segment. This episode has been missing since it originally aired over 25 years ago, who knows what happens!

Audio Upgrade. Now 100% complete – Original Notes: This is the “new” style of Best Of that Loveline would present when the show’s staff were on vacation and for holiday breaks. Adam and Drew were at the MTV Music Awards. The show starts already in progress, both recordings. The episode starts out with about 30min of Dub C from CLL #684 (feat. WC), next up is Semisonic from CLL #649 (feat. Semisonic) talking about UPS and their brand color scheme. Larry Flynt is the 3rd guest from a lost episode making his debut appearance, telling Adam about ‘Tips and Tricks’ and his other non-pornographic publications, the episode seems to be from 1997, possibly CLL #351 from Feb. 2nd 1997, as Adam received his Busty subscription a week later on CLL #358. Next Up is Sublime from CLL #227 (feat. Sublime) from Aug. 12th 1996. Next up is a lost clip from what seems to be a lost episode with The Goo Goo Dolls and Dr. Marcel from what I suspect is CLL #480 the Day after Rick Ocasek from July 31st 1997.

Audio Upgrade. Now 100% complete – Original Notes: This show is now complete with the lost 20+min finally restored, no longer are there repeating segments nor the missing opening for the show. It’s 100% complete minus the swear or comment that was bleeped out locally and not audible on any of the recordings from over 6 different sources. There is a surprising bit of music used to return from break so brace yourself for something unexpected for the first few breaks then you’re safe, the guests challenge Dr. Drew on the theories and experience quoted regarding abuse victims and their likelihood of future abuse. They proved to be controversial guests because of their opposing views for many listeners, once again decide for yourself! A truly hilarious show with a lot of fun moments is now complete, it took 6 partial recordings but we now have it all! I stayed up all night making this, it’s as fresh off the presses as these shows get, enjoy!

Now 99% complete – Original Notes: This is the brand-new Kevin tape, with the missing 60+ minutes of content, the show is now restored and nearly complete for the first time in over 18 years, now just missing the closing goodbye segment. CLL #667 (feat. Ursula Auburn) – 04/20/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source – Melissa Tape (2014) with TobyDog Tape (2008) Patches
Ursula is a unique guest and makes for a very bizarre show, so much so that the boys even comment on their insane discussion topics and range. Previously only a 59 minute show, we now have the complete episode thanks to some newer tape sources, This is the first time it’s ever been shared or aired in full since it played over the radio in 1998. A very interesting voicemail from Charlie Sheen is played mid-show, solid episode!
“Ursula Auburn is a model who had relationships with celebrities, recorded messages from them, and sold them to IEG. She subsequently filed a lawsuit against Charlie Sheen claiming that the “wacky neighbor and female stalker Rose” on Sheen’s hit CBS TV sitcom, Two and a Half Men, was based on her.”

This is a newly recovered episode, brand new to the archive and nearly 100% complete thanks to the new Kevin and Melissa Tapes, the date is 100% certain it could be 03/22/1998 the Sunday night show but no context clues were discovered to reveal that, for now #646 is missing and could be lost forever. This is the first of two known appearances the band made on LoveLine, though they could have a lost episode or even a pre Adam era episode also lost to time. Classic Ep!
This episode is 99.9% complete and just missing the closing final segment. This seems to be a Best Of recording however it’s so fresh off the presses I’m not certain, let’s all listen and find out!
CLL #640 (feat. Barenaked Ladies) – 03/12/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source –Erin’s only Tape (2011) with a Kevin Tape (2016) patch
We now have the closing 45 seconds to complete this previously long lost show, the episode is from a Barenaked Ladies fan’s tape I transferred 5 yrs. Ago, the guests are making their 2nd known appearance on LoveLine with 1 visit from 1992 that precedes this one. Adam and the guys sing, it’s hilarious! This tape was chosen over the Kevin tape due to the high pitch whine vs. the static that sounds like waves on the unknown tape. Bunch of solid calls and comedy material, great episode!
From WikiBarenaked Ladies (often abbreviated BNL or occasionally BnL) is a Canadian rock band. The band is currently composed of Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, Ed Robertson, and Tyler Stewart. Barenaked Ladies formed in 1988 in Scarborough, Ontario (now incorporated into the City of Toronto) as a duo of Robertson and Steven Page. Jim Creeggan and his brother Andrew “Andy” Creeggan joined at the end of 1989, and Stewart was added in 1990 while Andy was on a brief hiatus from the group. Andy left the band after its second album in 1995 and was replaced by Hearn. Page left in 2009, leaving the group as a quartet.
CLL #639 (feat. The Offspring) – 03/11/1998 – Wednesday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016)
A newly recovered lost episode, missing for 18 yrs. The Offspring return for another solid vist, further developing their rapport with the boys. They’re promoting their 1998 release ‘Americana’ which featured the extremely popular single ‘Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)’ and there is talk of a filthy fax sent to Adam.
From WikiThe Offspring is an American punk rock band from Huntington Beach, California, formed in 1984. Formed under the name Manic Subsidal, the band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Dexter Holland, bassist Greg K., lead guitarist Kevin “Noodles” Wasserman and drummer Pete Parada. The Offspring went through several lineup changes over the years, and Holland and Greg K. have been the only constant members. The band is often credited—alongside fellow California punk bands Green Day and Rancid—for reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the 1990s.They have sold over 40 million records worldwide, being considered one of the best-selling punk rock bands of all time.
CLL #638 (feat.Todd Richards and Rick Thorne w/ Dr. Bruce) – 03/10/1998 – Tuesday Night Show

Todd and Rick are both making their Classic LoveLine debut, Dr. Bruce is filling in for Drew, the guys are promoting ‘Board Aid’ and the date is triple confirmed. Previously lost to time for the past 18 yrs. now restored to the archive in full.
From WikiTodd Richards (born December 28, 1969) is a snowboarder from Paxton, Massachusetts. Richards is regarded as one of the most influential free style snowboarders ever to grace the sport. Helping to usher in “skate style” during the time when the sport was mainly influeced by alpine racing events. He is one of the most deocorated competitive snowboarders ever. CLL #637 (feat. Cherry Poppin Daddies) – 03/09/1998 – Monday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016)
Another lost recording, newly restored to the archive, it’s missing the closing break, 14 sec. or so after the 46 min. mark due to the tape flip when Kevin recorded it, it’s missing another 4 seconds about a minute later. 98% complete and the best we’re ever going to get. The guys are making what seems to be their CLL debut, I know, I know what about last year, that was Squirrel Nut Zippers, I checked!
From Wiki The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies are an American band established in Eugene, Oregon in 1989. Formed by singer Steve Perry and bassist Dan Schmid, the band has experienced many membership changes over the years, with only Perry, Schmid and trumpeter Dana Heitman currently remaining from the founding line-up.
CLL #636 (feat. Forest For The Trees) – 03/08/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016) with TobyDog Tape (2008) and Yoyoma02 Tape (2010) patches
This one is a bit complicated, we have over 5 sources for it but all of the sources recorded from the same 57 min. of the show with almost zero overlap, so this show starts about 20 min. in progress and ends about 10 min. early missing the final break and more, they discuss Adam’s ill-fated airport ride which makes it even more upsetting that the file is cut short.
From WikiForest for the Trees was a group started by Carl Stephenson in 1993. The project produced only a single full-length album during its duration. Self-titled, the album was released in 1997 after being delayed by a nervous breakdown that kept Stephenson from working on it for several years. Forest for the Trees produced only one single of note titled “Dream.” Forest for the Trees had many members, including John “coz” Acosta, Beck, Papa Bear Martinez, Mark Petersen, Don Device, David Strayer /drums, Chris Camacho/ bass and Jasper & Amadeus amongst others. One album remains unreleased as of 2006 being shelved by the now non-existent DreamWorks Records. In addition to be the creator of the group and producing, Stephenson plays violin, guitar, sitar, drums, keyboards and the didgeridoo. “Forest for the Trees is also beautifully infected with a collage of sounds from answering machines to dripping water to roller coasters, which bring a real-life aspect to rather abstract music.” The band performed at the 2002 Coachella Music Festival.
This episode is 100% complete, missing since it originally aired over 25 years ago. Adam opens the show lamenting the upcoming intensive schedule they share and the possible recipe for increased forced familiarity to breed contempt between them. Nobody has heard this since it originally aired, let’s all listen together and find out what happens.
CLL #634 (feat. Ben Folds) – 03-04-1998 – Wednesday Night Show
BEST OF – CLL #613 (feat. Ben Folds) – 02/03/1998 –Tuesday Night Show
Source – JBJ Tape (2008)
Ben Folds makes his CLL debut from Tuesday, February 3rd 1998. They discuss his Australian tour, the meaning behind the song Brick and Dr. John is filling in for Dr. Drew.
There is a new Kevin tape source but the background has a high pitched buzz so it wasn’t used, this is a brand new transfer from the JBJ tape first acquired in 2008. This was a full show best of aired while Adam and Drew were on their ill-fated trip across the country where Adam was left stranded and Drew lost his 1200$ camel hair duster on a plane with Fastball, whoa!
From WikiBenjamin Scott “Ben” Folds (born September 12, 1966) is an American singer-songwriter and record producer. From 1995 to 2000, Folds was the frontman and pianist of the alternative rock band Ben Folds Five. After the group temporarily disbanded, Folds performed as a solo artist and has toured all over the world. The group reunited in 2011. He has also collaborated with musicians such as William Shatner, Regina Spektor and “Weird Al” Yankovic and undertaken experimental songwriting projects with authors such as Nick Hornby and Neil Gaiman. In addition to contributing music to the soundtracks of the animated films Over the Hedge, and Hoodwinked!, Folds produced Amanda Palmer’s first solo album and was a judge on the NBC a cappella singing contest The Sing-Off from 2009 to 2013.
Source – XJosh VHS Archive Collection (2024) with a Melissa Tape (2014) Patch
This episode is 99.9% complete with a minor audio upgrade, the original Melissa tape was recorded flawlessly with great audio quality but had been damaged due to tape age and became a mess to transfer, see notes below. This is Jackie’s only appearance on CLL and the big night where Adam chooses his ride to the airport. Just missing the tail end of the goodbye segment where Adam chooses his driver.
Original notes: This one is a bit complicated, it’s the only known copy of the show, Melissa sent the tape in 2014 and it was the only one of her collection to be swollen and unplayable, the tape required tons of care and surgery, it had to be re-taped together by hand, the real rub on this one is it’s the night Adam solicited his airport ride from a fan named Maria, after two nights of taking calls to pick out his best possible candidate to most likely to show up and not assault him. About 95 sec. of the show is lost forever and it’s been edited back together in the way that most made sense, it should be 99% in sequence but could have some errors, stay tuned for some “bonus clips” as well.
This episode is 99% complete with a Major audio upgrade, just missing the closing goodbye segment, Fastball is making their debut appearance on CLL, they return to the show once more in 1999 and this episode was used in multiple ‘Best Of’ Compilations leading to our previously only know chunks, instead of editing any of that material in here I left the XJosh Tape in full despite the audio difficulties. This file has been compressed, normalized and had noise removal applied, the noise is baked into the fm broadcast source and can only be mitigated so much without compromising the remaining audio, this is the best I could get it (for now?) and contains the missing 65% of the episode and two missing live performances. This episode is the beginning of Adam’s airport ride fiasco that spread over the following episode and would not be resolved until the Kevin and Bean show 20 years later.
CLL #630 (feat. The Love between The Two Hosts) – 02/26/1998 – Thursday Night Show
Source – Kevin Tape (2016) with a SpaceBoye Tape (2012) patch
This episode is now complete, a 4 min. chunk from the SpaceBoye collection has been online for several years, now we have the remainder of the show, it’s unclear if the date on the SpaceBoye tape was correct, but it was edited back in just in case it does belong with this show.
This episode features a rare Joycelyn Elders intro, clearly from a lost episode possibly even CLL #625 which is now missing, this date is triple confirmed via the source tapes and guest clues. CLL #627 and #628 will be best of episodes from Dec. 1997. John is making his 2nd known appearance on CLL, he first visit was on Episode #105 from 02/22/1996 exactly two years earlier. John proves to be even more fun the 2nd time around and stays until the end of the show having fun with the boys, solid ep.
CLL #625 (feat. Days of The New) – 02/19/1998 – Thursday Night Show

This episode is now complete, about half of the show has been online for many years, we now have a confirmed date and the full show too! The band are making their only known appearance on CLL.
This episode features a bumper from a lost Traci Lords episode, either from early 98 or sometime in 1997 it seems. Anka is making her CLL debut, continuing their pre and post Valentine’s Day bookings of female “sex experts.” Anka Radakovich is an author and columnist, often considered the first modern sex columnist through her pioneering column in Details magazine, which ran from 1990 to 1999. This episode previously only existed in 38min and 11min clips from my previous transfers, now complete thanks to Kevin. Now only missing 13.9sec of show content from the tape flip and a lost 2.5sec after the 1:04:30 mark of the episode along with the final 25sec of the last break.
Source – Kevin Tape (2016) with Spinfly Tape (2009) Patch at the end to complete the show.
This newly transferred Kevin Tape is the only known copy on earth of this long lost episode, there was nothing else that could be found to patch in and then at the last moment I discovered this chunk I pulled off of a Spinfly Tape 7yrs ago, boom complete episode only missing 2.6-5.4sec of show audio for the tape flip. Just Classic Adam & Drew sans guest. You can’t hear this one anywhere else.

This Episode is entirely new to the archive, never before shared online, if you heard this one it was back in 98. Gary joins them remotely via the phone system and stays online for the majority of the show after the first break, he is promoting his new book and “analyzes” compatibility for callers and the staff/cast of the show, a very unique episode indeed! We have a Kevin Tape and this Melissa Tape, the Kevin tape had a high pitched whine so we went with the full body of the Melissa Tape due to the superior sound and used the Kevin Tape to patch in a missing 2min at the top of the 2nd hour and a missing 20 seconds from the closer with Dr. Drew.
Never Before Released – You Have Not Heard This One

(Corrected Number and Date)
Never Before Released – You Have Not Heard This One
CLL #616 (feat. Matt Westmore, Edon Kagasoff and Rusty Joiner)
02/08/1998 – Sunday Night Show
Source –Melissa Tape (2014)
This is the episode featuring the ‘Structure Underwear Models’ as was previously shared online back in 2012, this new Melissa tape replaces the partial show from the TobyDog tape that was just over 49min in total and incomplete. We now have nearly the full show, it begins in progress (just barely) and there was no material for patching from the TobyDog file. Drew tells Adam the story of how he ended up in the line for the Jerry springer Show audience while in Chicago at the studio for his appearance on Jenny Jones which taped at the same studio.
The Long Lost episode #615 is now recovered, 18yrs ago it aired and then vanished off the earth, we now have the only known copy, this is one of Blink 182’s earliest appearances on CLL, featuring the original lineup before Travis Barker replaced their drummer. There is a very funny one time only type of interaction with a caller and some karaoke. This episode is truly from a bygone era, so good!
Never Before Released – You Have Not Heard This One
Source – Kevin Tape (2016) with JBJ Tape (2008) patches where needed
This is the new definitive version of this episode, the best audio was chosen, the JBJ tape had a “muddy” quality and the Kevin Tape has a high pitched squeal, the audio was superior so we used that one as the base. The Crystal Method would become sleeper-classic Loveline guests, they return later with “dancer” Holly Body who delights Adam much to Lynette’s chagrin, stay tuned for that episode along with at least 4 more appearances before 2005 and Adam’s departure from the show.
