GLL Episode 1110

CLL #1110 (feat. Susan Pinsky)

12/30/1999 Thursday Night Show

Source – Lost Tape VHS (2018)

This is a new source for an episode I first recovered about a decade ago. Labeled as ‘The Millennium Show’ and closing out the decade of the 1990’s, the last show where Y2K wasn’t yet a joke. Susan only has two known in studio appearances during the Adam era, her previous visit was on CLL #99 from February 14th 1996.

About Susan Pinsky

12/28/1999 Tuesday Night Show

Source – Lost Tape VHS (2018)

This is a new source for an episode I first recovered about a decade ago, now with a huge audio upgrade. Kobe is making her only known appearance of the Adam era, Adam and Kobe bond over ‘Taboo II’ so much so that many fans presumed this was the first mention, unaware of CLL #1088 (feat. System of a Down) and the actual origin of ‘Taboo II’ on Loveline. Lots of new Andy Dick drops too, solid episode!

From Wiki: Kobe Tai (born January 15, 1972) is the stage name of a Taiwanese-born[2] American former pornographic actress and adult model.[1] She entered the adult film industry at the age of 24 and appeared in over 70 adult films between 1996 and 2003. Her real name is Carla Scott Carter. She was a contract performer with Vivid Entertainment.[3] Her stage name was initially spelled Coby Ty, but Steven Hirsch modified it to make it sound more ethnic for marketing purposes.[2] In 2011, Complex ranked her first on its list of “The Top 50 Hottest Asian Porn Stars of All Time”. She married fellow pornographic actor Steven Scott, who performs under the stage name Mark Davis in 1997. They divorced in 1999.

CLL #1100 (feat. Cypress Hill)

12/16/1999 Thursday Night Show

Source – Lost Tape VHS (2018) with a Lost Tape (2017) Patch

This is a new source for a long lost episode, it’s 100% complete. It’s been missing for over 18 years, sadly there was another lost tape but due to improper storage and age it has serious sound issues, luckily I found this VHS and we don’t need any patches, these tapes are aging fast and I need to speed this process up before it’s too late. Who knows what happens on this episode, it’s just Drew and Cypress Hill lets all listen together and find out. Edit: We needed one patch and luckily the sound was good enough, so now here is the full show with a replacement for the 5 seconds of garbled audio.  Thanks to Superfan Esme!

From Wiki: Cypress Hill is an American hip hop music group from South Gate, California. Cypress Hill was the first Latino American hip hop recording group to have platinum and multi-platinum albums, selling over 20 million albums worldwide. They are considered to be among the main progenitors of West Coast rap and hip hop in the early 1990s, being critically acclaimed for their first four albums.[1] The band has also advocated for medical and recreational use of cannabis in the United States.[2]

This is the 3rd known appearance from a band member of 311, it’s likely they have at least one lost episode and they return to the show at least 7 more times during the Adam era. The missing 15 minutes have been restored, this episode has some solid calls and Nick always proves to be a great guest.

Source – Lost Tape (2017)

This is a new source for a long lost episode, it’s 99.9% complete and missing about 5 seconds. The tape has some warble at the start of the 2nd hour, it’s due to damage from age/mishandling and cannot be repaired. It lasts for about 30 seconds,  there was no other tape to patch in. Natalie is making her 2nd of 3 known appearances on CLL, she also guested on the MTV Show.

Raitano was born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. She is a 1984 graduate of Monongahela Valley Catholic High School, in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. She is best known for portraying the role of Nikki Franco on the syndicated TV series V.I.P..

Source – Lost Tape (2018)

This is a long lost episode, only 17 seconds had previously been recovered. We now have the full show without the need for patches, thank the Great Magnet! Who knows what happens in this episode, let’s all listen together and find out. Pauly is making his first known appearance of the Adam era, it’s possible he was on promoting his sitcom in 1997 but seems unlikely. Pauly returns to the show once more during the Adam era in July of 2005. Pauly’s last confirmed appearance previous to this on CLL was in 1992 with Dave Lerman and Doug Bady, before Riki Rachtman began hosting duties, though it’s likely he came back in 1993, 1994 and or 1995 to promote one or several of his movies. Pauly is promoting his guest appearance on ‘Nash Bridges.’

From Wiki: Paul Montgomery “Pauly” Shore (born February 1, 1968) is an American actor, comedian, director, writer and producer. Shore is best known for his roles in several comedy films in the 1990s including Encino Man (1992), Son in Law (1993), and Bio-Dome (1996). He also hosted a video show on MTV in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Shore’s acting career has declined since the late 1990s; he has since appeared only infrequently in a number of films and has primarily focused on stand-up comedy.

GLL Episode 1096

CLL #1096 (feat. Tonic)

12/12/1999 Sunday Night Show

Source – Lost Tape (2018) with a Tobydog Tape (2008) Patch

This is a new source for an existing episode, the missing 10+ minutes have now been restored and the episode is 100% complete. This episode features a notable caller with a two-part problem and the band prove to be great guests, lots of fun banter that makes for a solid episode. This is the only recording of the band on CLL, they have a lost 1996 CLL appearance and have also appeared on MTV Loveline.

From WikiTonic is an American rock band that has earned two Grammy nominations. The band was formed in 1993 by Emerson Hart and Jeff Russo. Later members have included Dan Lavery, Kevin Shepard, and Dan Rothchild. Signed to a recording contract in 1995, the band released its debut album Lemon Parade in 1996. The single “If You Could Only See” reached No. 11 on the Billboard Airplay Hot 100, and Lemon Parade itself reached platinum status.

Tonic spent much of the next two years touring, adding to its reputation as a relentlessly gigging band. In addition to extensive touring Tonic produced other work, including songs for feature film soundtracks. After self-producing its 1999 album Sugar, Tonic released its third album Head on Straight in 2002. Tonic received two Grammy nominations from Head on Straight, including one for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for “Take Me As I Am”, and one for Best Rock Album. The band then went on hiatus beginning in 2004 while its members pursued other musical endeavors. It wasn’t until late 2008 Tonic became active again, embarking on a tour and releasing a greatest-hits compilation, all of which served as a prelude to their fourth studio album, 2010’s Tonic. After the release of that album, Tonic has continued to tour and remain active into the year 2016, when they released an all-acoustic version of Lemon Parade titled Lemon Parade Revisited in celebration of that album’s 20th anniversary and which utilized direct funding from fans.

This is a new source for an existing episode, the missing 5+ minutes have been restored and it’s 100% complete. Jimmy Kimmel is still filling in for Adam while he’s busy with hosting duties for the Billboard Music Awards. Lots of calls for the band who seem fairly exhausted from touring, Jimmy is spinning plates to keep the show entertaining and reveals he has a photograph of Adam in a compromising position, unique episode.

From Wiki: Korn (stylized as KoЯn) is an American nu metal band from Bakersfield, California, formed in 1993.[3][4][5] The band’s current lineup includes founding members James “Munky” Shaffer (rhythm guitar), Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu (bass), Brian “Head” Welch (lead guitar, backing vocals), and Jonathan Davis (lead vocals, bagpipes), with the addition of Ray Luzier (drums), who replaced the band’s original member, David Silveria in 2007. The band experienced mainstream success with Follow the Leader (1998) and Issues (1999), both of which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.[7] The band’s mainstream success continued with Untouchables (2002), Take a Look in the Mirror (2003) and See You on the Other Side (2005).

A compilation album, Greatest Hits Vol. 1, was released in 2004, spanning a decade of singles and concluding the band’s recording contract with Immortal Records and Epic Records. They signed to Virgin Records, releasing See You on the Other Side in 2005, and an untitled album in 2007. The band has released forty-one singles, twenty-eight of which have charted.[10][11][12][13][14] Korn has earned two Grammy Awards out of eight nominations[15][16] and two MTV Video Music Awards out of eleven nominations.[17]

CLL #1092 (feat. Everclear)

12/06/1999 Monday Night Show

SourceDebbi and Chris Tape (2020) with a Tobydog Tape (Pre-2007) Patch

This is a new export of an existing partial episode, this was a Tobydog tape that was not transferred by me, the audio has been repaired and the commercials removed, it’s the best it can be without another source to patch from/with. Art Alexakis from Everclear is making his 3rd known appearance on the show. The episode is roughly 40% complete, featuring the last segment of the first hour and the first segment of the 2nd hour with a little of the 2nd segment of the 2nd hour. Update: New Source, now 99% complete with a medium audio quality upgrade as well.

From Wiki: Everclear is an American rock band formed in Portland, Oregon in 1991.[2] The band was formed by Art Alexakis, the band’s lead songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist; and for most of the band’s height of popularity, consisted of Craig Montoya on bass guitar and Greg Eklund on drums. After the limited release of their independently released debut album, World of Noise, the band found success with their first three albums on Capitol Records: Sparkle and Fade, So Much for the Afterglow, and Songs from an American Movie Vol. One: Learning How to Smile,[2] which were all certified platinum in sales. However, the following two albums Songs from an American Movie Vol. Two: Good Time for a Bad Attitude and Slow Motion Daydream, were not as well received, and as sales suffered, Montoya and Eklund left the band shortly after in 2003.

After a brief stint of solo performances, Alexakis decided to push forward with the Everclear name, finding new musicians to perform with and releasing two more albums, Welcome to the Drama Club and Invisible Stars. Starting in 2012, Alexakis has also started up a 1990s nostalgia tour, called the Summerland Tour, that occurs every summer with Everclear and other 1990s alternative rock bands. In April 2015, the band released a ninth studio album entitled Black is the New Black.

This is a new export of an existing episode, now 100% complete with the missing 3+ minutes restored. This episode features an ominous acknowledgement of the armed guard now on premises. A very early use of “Not Taco Bell Material” and Adam talks about knowing Christy Canyon before her career in adult films. The guys once again prove to be great guests, among the best in Loveline history. Great Episode.

From WikiGoldfinger is an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1994. In their early years the band is widely considered to have been a contributor to the movement of third-wave ska,[5][6] a mid-1990s revitalization in the popularity of ska. However, the releases of Open Your Eyes and Disconnection Noticesaw the band shed most of the ska influence, and they have been more commonly placed in the punk rock genre in later years. Apart from the band’s music, Goldfinger is also noted for their political activism, particularly in the area of animal rights.[7]

This is a new export of a long lost episode, it’s 98% complete. There were intermittent audio dropouts sometimes every 30sec, sometimes every 2-5minutes, with large gaps unaffected. Over 50 audio drop outs were removed, in most cases the audio was simply delayed, in the rest it was deleted by the satellite feed 20 years ago. Only a total of 45 seconds were lost at most, so from time to time the audio will jump ahead slightly, it’s not your phone nor mp3 player, it’s the source. The audio at the tape flip is missing along with the closing goodbye segment, roughly 3min in total are absent. Shaun is making his 3rd known and final appearance on CLL during the Adam era, he seems to have a more playful nature in this episode from a few funny comments I heard while editing, let’s all listen together and find out if this is a sleeper classic or if it explains why he never returned to the show.

This is a new export of an existing episode, it’s 99% complete. Missing a few seconds off the return from the 2nd and 3rd breaks, including the top of the 2nd hour before the station ID break. Evan proves to be an excellent guest, promoting the short lived yet much beloved TV series ‘It’s Like You Know’ and making his only appearance on CLL during the Adam era. Evan did eventually return to radio with Adam Carolla in 2008 on Adam’s KLSX Morning show. Hilarious episode!
